Who's to say? How about MB? They're the ones that publish the spec and maintain the list of oils that meet their standard. The oil mentioned isn't on their list.

I just don't understand the need to experiment with what is possibility the second most expensive thing you own. Just because it may exceed spec in one application doesn't mean it does in all others.

I enjoy the tirade against MB in that maybe they don't know everything, probably true, but they probably spent the most money studying it and have the most data. Data from other sources are lacking...

The logic or lack of it here is faulty.

How is it saving money when Walmart has mobil one for 25.47 for 5 quarts?? I am boat and watercraft mechanic by trade now that I have retired from Drilling . I can tell you this the PWC engines are run very hard both supercharged and non up to 8100 rpm. Mobil one I have never had oil failure related problem. The MB dealer uses Valvoline syn.10w40w. Its the engines lifeblood so why cut corners? Would I buy oil from dealer? No way youre right about paying for a name no reason to waste money! Also no reason to chance blown or damaged MB. engine.
