What you can do without...

Just interesting how many things I can do without. Change my oil and let me go on... |
Considering that #2,3,4,10 and 13 either are check automatically, or driver can check them not slowing down from 80 mph?
I think battery and wiper replacement at each service is overkill, but that's me. |
If the gearbox oil change is required as part of a service, I can't see how they can do that so quickly.
But I have no problems with them checking the rest! |
Other than #11, I see no problem providing the rest of the inspections.
|
Are they required - NO.
IS it nice they do it - YES Do I want to pay a whole bunch for this "FREE" stuff - no. |
Current service visit for all makes is to drop a 3-5 page document of want your car needs, should have, and things to consider. That’s the norm.
|
Dealership topics seem to get discussed to death. Forum members are a minority of the population and tend to do a lot of their own work. From what I see most folks only know where the gas cap is. I don't see anything wrong with the service inspection list since that same majority basically just drives the car. I don't really care if the dealer gets more work out of it, makes it better for guys like me that like to be second owners of almost new cars.

Still I hate dishonest people and making $2000 job recommendation on bad $15 boot doesn't feel right. |

Big DITTO on that.

An hour or less and they'll still charge $300 on up for it.

Brakes are almost new (she remembers 10k miles since replacement), while steering needs $15 boot, that most likely body shop doing the repairs last fall choose "not to see". So with such honesty from repairmen, she might not have other choice than drive the car till it stops and get another one. |
