Experienced (finally) ACTIVE BRAKE INTERV. FCW STOP
My car has option
258 - COLLIS.WARN. SYS. W/ ACTIVE BRAKE INTERV. FCW STOP
We had some dispute in the past how and if that works, with suggestions about putting cardboard boxes on empty lot and trying to run them over, so finally I can tell it does work.
Yesterday in LA traffic, (for those who are not familiar >>> we are talking ZOO) I had fast lane traffic braking heavy in front of me.
I have full confidence in MB brakes, so I start braking gently, but the car in front punched it at one moment and when I was still confident, the computer was not and right after short beep my brake pedal went down good inch on its own.
IT IS ALIVE
I consider the MB programs oversensitive btw. When changing lanes in heavy traffic, I am getting lot of beeps, even I see more than a foot of space from other car

Good to read this. I have the same 258 code and description. So I guess I can be more confident.
Funny about that sensitivity. Among the many 4-lane divided main street intersections through town, there is a single place (actually 100ft beyond that intersection at an entrance to a business) where 4/5 of the time, I get a single beep... nothing there at all.

I guess in this feature - oversensitive is better than under sensitive.
Like everything in this life so far - human intelligence is unbeatable.
My lane keeping gives me shaking when merging line ends. At least on Ford I could adjust shaking to minimal, but still there.
Than when I make left turn on multi-lane intersection and I have blinker with a car on the side, the thing keeps beeping like crazy.

I have 258 too. Good to hear that, thanks.
But I never experienced the beeps on EMPTY road. I saw that the beep comes when the front cars brake lights are ON (and you are getting closer in a definite speed), in the night.
