TPMS lifespan
I have a 2014 E350 wagon and need to buy new summer tires. I'm going to mount them on the same OEM rims as the tires I'm replacing.
I've seen various estimates of TPMS battery life, ranging from 5-10 years. Is there a consensus for 2014 MY? Should I replace now or wait? If replace, I'm considering these aftermarket ones, since they're quite a bit cheaper even than the Tire Rack ones ($44 x 4). part # A0009057200 https://www.ebay.com/itm/4X-Tire-Pre...K/201441440011 Any thoughts? Will be bringing them to Costco but mine doesn't stock the sensors and the eBay ones are cheaper anyway. TIA. |
Just sold 2008 model and I had 2nd set of wheels for it from other 2008 model, that I was swapping when tires wear.
All factory TPMS did work after 11 years. |
If you think that the tires will last less than 4 years, probably a good bet to use the originals. I swapped out rims last year and put 4 replacements in from Amazon at about 39 per wheel, but the wheels were original and were probably about 8-9 years old at the time.
