Wheel repairs
I scraped the edge of my rear wheel couple of days ago. About 1/3 inch wide by 6 inches long along the edge near tire. One place sent an email that they would do a "complete refinishing" for about $150. Not too sure I want to get the whole wheel refinished as it may not match other wheels on a 10 year old car. Also heard that refinishing leaves marks on the wheels.
Hopefully contractor for state DOT will reimburse for actual repairs. Anybody had experiences with getting this type damage repaired in U.S.? Thanks. |
Check the part number on eBay. I think MB rims are in the $200 range. On my W211, I was able to get one for a little over $140 so easier to just pick up a new rim than the get old one bent back. They usually offer you $20 toward your old rim as long as it's not cracked. You can also shop around, I think around here, getting them refinished are in the $100-$125 range, but I've had enough bent rims to just put that out of mind and wait for another bent one.

Wish you the best of luck getting the contractor to pay. $1100 in damage to mine and I had to pound sand.

Thanks

DOT does not pay, but the contractor's insurance company does. Ironically, they patched the hole the day I called (4 days ago) and it is already coming apart again. They replaced part of an asphalt driveway into a business with a concrete handicapped ramp to the street. No problems before. Sorry yours didn't work out. |
