Thinking about buying a E350 Coupe
Hey guys,
I currently own a '10 C300 - great car, except the ESL went bad, but I removed the old ESL, put an emulator in, and now it's good, thank God. I've pretty much sorted out the C300, so I'd like to give that to my mom, and I came across the '10 to '13 E350 Coupe. Never really looked at that car before, but I really like it.
Yesterday, I took one for a test drive at the local MB dealer. I was actually underwhelmed. It did not drive very smoothly, it sounded loud, like clanky loud. The best way to describe the noise would be similar to a 1999-2002 SLK 230 4 Cylinder Kompresser. Most places I've researched, I found that they LOVE the smooth quiet ride in the E350 coupe, and that it has acceptable power as well. Maybe I just drove an exception? Either way, I'm looking to test drive another one today, so let's see.
Also, I looked at the reliability of the early W212s and it seems like nobody has any major issues with it - so a sound and reliable car.
Any thoughts and comments appreciated.

The E350 coupe is built on the W204 C Class chassis not the W212 so it won't ride as well as an E Class.

Go with the sedan, which is REAL E-Class. E Coupe is a lot smaller as it is made on C-Class base like MBNUT1 already said.

2010 E350, Sold 1998 C230
My neighbor has a 2009 convertible with the same powertrain as my 2010 E 350. It doesnt ride as nicely and is noisier, but that is what you get with a smaller vehicle and ragtop. The hardtop coupe should be about as quiet, but as other mentioned, its not built on an E class chassis.
