Should i replace belt tensioner and pulleys

Hello
got about 163k miles on my 10 e550 , always garaged and taken care off.
i have never replaced belt tensioner nor pulleys
i did change the belt though about 40-50 k miles back.
i inspected everything and all is looking pretty good not worn , loose or making noises.
so is it worth replacing now just wait ??
thanks

Usually the top idler pulley is shorted lived... Remove the belt and spin it, if it sounds like a skateboard its due for replacement. I would surprised if neither idler or the tensioner pulley aren't worn and "noisy". I'm doing the whole shebang on our '11 E550 w/ 100k miles, not bad and only ~$150 for all OEM parts.

Nice! It's great that you have taken such good care of your 550. The replacement cost is not huge, but I see no reason to replace these parts until you notice an issue with them (noise).

edit: or follow bmwpower suggestion

On the M272/M273 engine, they don't have a good history of lasting long. Did one at 60k ad the other at 90k. If you did mostly highway miles, it's only a matter of time. Thermostat is right there too and those go. Check your oil separator and breather cover too and the plugs in the back while you're there. Those are common M272/M273 problems. Those will bake your intake if you don't take care of it.

Or buy individually... stick with MB, Gates or INA for the tensioner, MB or INA for the pulleys and MB, Contitech or Gates for the belt.

I think Gates is OE for the tensioner. Rockauto also sells the continental kit for $135 which I've used before but if you already have a belt, you can just pick up the Gates tensioner from rockauto which also comes with a lifetime warranty. They also have the pulleys but most seem to be just a 1 year warranty but you can buy the parts individually at FCPEuro for the lifetime warranty.

Yeah, I'm still here. Prices are up in the pandemic. Maybe another year or two. Can't figure out which one to get rid of. I like both cars. Maybe the 2008 W211 a little bit better as that has real leather and I like the steering wheel and driving it slightly better and it has lower miles. Then again the 2011 W212 seems more reliable although it has slightly higher mileage, the auto high beams and massage seats are nice in that one too. I'm thinking of a loaded 2014-2016 E-350 but if I wait long enough maybe a 2018+ E400/E450, no 4 cylinder E300 for me. I think my deadline might be when the 2008 hits 15 years in about 2 more years. But then again if the fuel tank goes before then and I get it replaced no reason to get rid of it after the 15 year extended warranty on the fuel tank is up. Can't find them really loaded the way I like them so no big rush for now. But if I see one loaded and at a good price, I'd just jump on it and it'd be all over.

When my idler pulley started going out on my W211, I replaced all the pulleys with the Continental kit as a preventive measure. They were notably louder than the stock ones

Got the Continental kit about 5 years ago. Still going as of now. Didn't notice any difference in terms of noise. They didn't have the kit for the W212 at the time so I got individual Gates parts and that was about 4 years ago.
