By saying MB wants to do I mean they want to because they have been told to do it. They certainly would not want to do it as they built the cars with power in the engine they have. Now they are forced to do updates on these cars and the result is the engine performance goes down.

The power output that these cars originally have is a selling point against competition and now the government tells them updates must be done that actually reduce engine performance.

Wonder if MB should buy the cars back…

I think the VW buyback was part of the settlement. I know I had a co-worker who made out like a bandit because they gave him the option of taking a reduced payout plus keep the car. He took the money and kept the car.

Thanks, interesting how the forum users have changed as the cars age, I was in the W220 and W221 forums for years and we never had these kinds of people.
