Eco disable
No financial connection, just a very happy customer to get rid of the most annoying and useless feature on my car—the Eco switch.

install is minutes and it works perfectly.😎😎

😬🤬🤬link didn’t post in the original.
About $154 and check your model/year for the correct unit. Whatever you leave the Eco at when you shut off the engine, it stays that way. So leave it off, it stays off. Want it on? Turn it on and it stays that way.

My el-cheapo Launch Creader Elite for MB, now probably only US$160 can do ECO full hack.
And then you get a powerful mini scanner while at it.

I did it with the Launch Creader Elite 2.0. I think it was $150? Member JettaRed talked me into that buy, and imo turning Eco off was worth the whole price, but disabling Eco is just a footnote in all the things it can do.
But note the Launch turns it Off period, no turning it back On with the button. You have to use Launch to turn it back on, which takes ~10min. Not that I care, because I never want to see it again, but if anyone wants that last setting function then Launch is not the answer.
The only issue, imo, is it won't pass smog like that, at least not in California where everything is illegal. I'd assume the midcity hack is the same, but I don't really know. What happens is changes like that upset the checksum, or CVN #, and it's an instant smog check fail. So you just have to remember to undo it before smog, or selling it.
Launch has a function to save your settings, which implies you save the oem settings, make whatever changes, then later you re-apply the saved setting and you're good to go. Well, I tried it just to see, and it didn't work. I tried it twice, both times a fail. Not sure why it doesn't work for me, but fyi. Launch will tell you the CVN, so take careful note of that oem #, and exactly what changes you make while in there tweaking stuff. Then when you set it back to oem, verify that CVN is oem too.
Now I only have to hit three buttons after I start it. Sport mode for suspension, Sport for the eng/tranny, and a button on the steering wheel to display MPH instead of odometer. Still sux, but better than four buttons. If anyone knows how to lock those others where I want them, I'm all ears. I'm certain it originally displayed MPH, but at some point it didn't. Should probably root through the menus to see if it's in there.
Another thing Launch did for me is change the turn signals to one blink. I've always HATED the default three blink. Why does that even exist? And why is it forced on us?

I have the MidCityEngineering fix for auto Stop/Start on both my cars. It works well and as advertised. I did that before joining the BenzNinja Club. I could have saved well over $300 on the two cars had I gone with BenzNinja sooner. Lesson learned!

I used the Launch to uninstall it completely. "Not Active" is the choice. Pretty neat feature...
Now when you push the bureaucrat button, just like complaining to corporate about your dealer, nothing happens.
Lake Speed Jr. says "If your car has Stop/Start, disable it imeadiatly, it's bad for your oil, bad for your engine, bad for your starter, just disable it as soon as you can" I'm with him.

Red; I read from others that the Agility mode was more like in between E and S. I have no interest in that. I have specific wants, old school wants. Basically I want it to act like a trans made 50 years ago. I want zero thinking on the part of the tranz, none of this "I think you want..." bla bla bla, because it's never guesses what I want.
Manual basically locks it in gear and you shift it, manually. I use this a LOT because in S the tranny is doing all that thinking I mentioned and just F's everything up.
Then there's the M mode triggered by the paddle buttons, which is temporary manual mode and rather annoying in itself because once again it's thinking what you want, and it's usually wrong. Passengers wonder wth when I drive because I have to push so many button on start, then continually push them as I drive in order to get the frikkin thing thing to do what I want.
Suspension reverts to soft, or whatever it is. Not that I can tell the difference, but I click Sport just in case and out of habit.
The dash always defaults to odometer and I have to up arrow to get speed. I can't be certain, but I swear I don't remember having to do that before.
The AMG menu sounds interesting, but I don't have a need, that I'm aware of.

Yeah, that's it right there. I was thinking it said "not installed", but "not active" is it.

not completely true.
depends on how you programmed it and what vriables you changed.
I set mine to remember last setting.
SO I turned off and now it stays off the next time I start car.
To turn on I press button I did that once to test otherwise it has been off for over a month now.

What settings did you toggle to accomplish that ?
My ECO is working too well these days... I need to fix it.

The AMG menu gives a digital readout of oil and coolant temps, along with current gear and speed, in a single view. A bit of a novelty, but also useful warmup info.

[QUOTE=JettaRed;8994367]Even BenzNinja states that on his site, I believe, but it ain't true. it is MUCH more aggressive than Sport mode. It is actually Sport+ and monitoring the transmission mode using my LAUNCH scanner, it shows S+ when I select Agility. On the dash it does show as A, but it certainly isn't between E and S. This is for my SL400. For some reason, my C350 tranny doesn't behave the same way. As a matter of fact, it's hard for me to tell the difference between E, S, and A, but it has always been that way. E mode seems to shift the same way as S mode.[QUOTE]
Benzninja is the man, had him on the phone today, as a matter of fact. But my 14' E350 is no different between E or S. If I'm not mistaken, The owners manual states one of them, E me thinks, should start off in 2nd gear. Neither one does, both begin in 1st, both shift the same during normal driving or aggressive, which we mostly refrain from. I knew my wife broke mine...

Rick, I am glad you have a responsive tranny. Its better than slow poke.
Mine used to be confused and started on 2n, now bith S/E modes start in 1st and effectively rev up to 2500.RPM for shifting in S.
In E tranny shifts sooner to save fumes. This is only useful when tranny easily downshifts. I don't use this much except on highways.
I used to blame a lot on tranny acting confused in the wrong gear... but that's caused by ECU + delays that I've pinned on CAN-C CGW: ESP/ISM/...

Oh, man, don't tell her she broke it!
Interesting because my 2014 C350 behaves the same way. Now, on a cold start, even E will start in 1st, but once warmed it should only drop to 2nd. My 2015 SL400 is a different story. If I am in E and going along in 7th gear, changing to S will drop to 6th or 5th gear with no change in pedal position. If I go to A, the tranny will drop to 4th. With the C350, changing from E to S to A does nothing with regard to gear changes. So, it sounds like our cars with the same engine and model year behave the same. That's good to know that (1) there is nothing wrong with my tranny, or (2) there is something wrong with both our cars.
