Need advise of equipment to obtain for servicing/coding on my car

Hi !
I have decided that i would like to buy the needed equipment to be able to do all needed work on my own car.
I have a S212 2012 model E220 CDI and are planning to buy whatever i need to be able to install additional equipment on my car that require programming/coding i addition to normal error code readings and repair/re-set.
Would like to have a system that are able to do "anything" that could arise.
Can someone please advise me of what to buy ? (Also it would be nice if it is able to use on all brands, not only Mercedes)

* Cost
* User frienldy/self explaining.
* Multi brand support.

Please advise !

Buy a dealership. LOL

DO you mean CODE READER that can do real time data and reset things?
OR the MB tech system the dealers use?

You definitely want to go with @BenzNinja . You not only get a validated XENTRY setup (far superior to iCarsoft), but also remote support. Upgrades and coding usually need a license to access Mercedes servers, etc. BenzNinja has that. You can find his postings on this forum or go to www.benzninja.com. (XENTRY is the shop tool Mercedes uses to scan and program modules.)

While you can get a scan tool to scan multiple brands, you will need a brand-specific bi-directional scanner to come close to doing "anything" that may come up. For Mercedes that would be a Star Diagnostics System (SDS) comprised of a Windows laptop, a C4 Multiplexer with DoIP, and the XENTRY software suite. The added benefit XENTRY is that it has built in testing and trouble-shooting steps to help diagnose and solve problems. And with BenzNinja, you get remote profession support.

Unless you are operating a repair shop or have multiple brands of cars you support, you should not need a multi-brand scanner. Good ones cost thousands of dollars and usually have yearly subscriptions costing hundreds of dollars. Still, none will be better than SDS/XENTRY for Mercedes.
