Coolant Refill

Hi all,
Recently got a '14 E350 4matic sedan and it's been running great these past few months. I got my car back from a shop the other day for a new bumper replacement and then got a low coolant warning. I checked when the engine was cold and it looks low:

I've read that it should be at the level where the white plastic and black plastic meet, is this true?. The car hasn't shown any signs of overheating in the day I drove it but I've parked it for now just in case.

The tag on the coolant reservoir says 2016, so I guess it hasn't been changed then but I've been trying to look for any leaks and haven't found anything. Could it just have gotten low or do you guys think there is most likely a leak? Just wanted to get some thoughts before I refill it to the line where black/white plastic meet.

Yes,fill it to just above the black, you can check front of engine cener for water pump or thermostat/ temp sensor leaks and check radiator sides and lines at bottom of radiator for leaks,

Clean the outside if the reservoir, and take a photo of it. If the cap starts to fails, it will leak, and stain the reservoir

The coolant level sensor is in the reservoir. That's where you should add fluid.

Makes me wonder whether the shop had to disconnect a radiator hose to remove and install the bumper. Was it the entire bumper or just the bumper cover?

There is a proper process for draining and filling the coolant on the M276 (and other) engines using a vacuum refill device.

Here are the official procedures. But you can watch YouTube videos on how to use the vacuum tool. Also good for pressure testing you system.

What kind of coolant is in the car?
Should be pink or blue. 2014 they changed over to pink coolant.

If the build date is April of 2014 i think it's pink, since they started building 2014's in July of 2013, I'd bet a lot of 14's use blue

My 2014 C350 uses the blue stuff. Release date is 2013-10-25.

That would make sense, I would imagine all the 14's built from 7-'13 until 4-'14 use blue coolant, which would be most of them as they would likely start producing "15's in July of '14
