There is nothing I've seen of the E that I don't like or love already. Honestly, if they could figure out a way to install a vagina in it I'd probably be single.

The interior I'd for nerds/ nerd-herd.The focus seems to be more on gigabytes than horsepower.

Is it just me or the headlights of the facelifted W212 look better?

I'm not sure if you are some kind of weird "try to be funny account" but I have to say I get a good laugh out of all of your posts.

I'm sure your classy choice of username in no way prejudiced the moderators to discriminate against you. Just like in High School.
I can't imagine why they would be so unfair. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...2d25b7004b.png |
First off it was my comments that were as he stated "unbecoming" and secondly my username has "offensive implications". Regardless I got a good laugh being suspended.

Maybe I'm just an "old soul" or something, but I hate the sports grill on this new E. Like the sport body style generally though. I'd take the sport body and throw the traditional grill and hood ornament on it. I wish MB would move back toward the traditional grill in general. I know I'm definitely the minority with that opinion, but oh well.
|
Completely concur with you and that will be available according to post #30 over here. I'm a fan of this version:

@KEY08
Yes! Luxury grill and big multi-spokes. Timeless and classy! The thing is though, besides the LED pattern on the headlights, at a distance it will be almost indistinguishable from the C. Less melty rear exterior, actual back seating room and integrated interior display are E's biggest advantages I guess. Well, those are pretty big! Still, I'm planning on trying to get a deal on a W212 for my next lease as they intro the W213. Let them get the kinks out of this new model. |

I've driven them and they're a riot. Word is that MB will slot something below the E63 along the same lines as the C450. |
I believe MB's plan is have an AMG Sport model in almost every line up. Just as BMW's M sport models are available in almost every model.
The C450 AMG is the first model out under this new scheme. |
^Makes sense. Historically an "AMG Sport" package was entirely cosmetic..front and rear fascias, side skirts and wheels, and the "real" AMG bits were reserved for the astronomically more expensive cars with the hand built engines. The plan to put out near-AMG cars at nowhere near AMG prices is pretty cool.

I think it's somewhat an exaggeration. These cars just have AMG styling and a powerful V6 engine, however, not only is there 140hp difference, but also narrower tires, softer suspension, less direct steering.

what will base interior look like
Interesting that all of the new interior pictures show the Designo version. Not sure everyone's reaction would be the same with the base black MBtex that 85% of all E's are equipped with?
Why so many car lines are moving to a single exterior design theme is beyond me. Does it put more people in the entry level models because it looks like their flagship model? Have to wonder. |
Right. MB says the 3 stage electronic AMG suspension is "adapted" from the C63, and of course less torque and AWD requires less meatier rubber, but at least it's got some actual performance parts vs a body kit and sporty wheels. And no other C gets that AMG tuned suspension, or exhaust (aside from the 63). At first glance I was thinking "whatever...a 300 with a body kit and AMG fender badges".
Drive a C300 and a C450 back to back and you'll immediately know what I'm talking about. If they do anything nearly as dramatic a performance improvement in the E, slotted under the 63, it would be a blast. |

That's what I was thinking. I'm currently driving a 2016 E350 (sport) loaner, and compared to it my E400 is an absolute blast. Add some more HP/Torque to the newer E, and the equation gets even more interesting. |

There is apparently a new tier of interior trim between Standard and Designo called Avant Garde that has some more exotic colors and finishes that don't break the bank as much as Designo. Guess we'll have to wait for the order guide to know for sure. But yeah, it's always seemed crazy to have a halo car like the S and not make your mid size and compact sedans have a familial resemblance. Has to help drive sales of the entry level cars. |
This is gonna cause a lot of problems with the blue-haired old lady E-Class set in Florida when they come out of the nail salon and whip out the remote and try to open a same-color C-class in the parking lot. "Oh, I really thought it was my car"! she says to MB Road Assistance when they get there...

I want to own a MB for the rest of my life but they're turning into BMW in this way which is the EXACT reason I wouldn't even consider a 5 series. |
Agreed

Yeah, in the luxury package you'll get the traditional multi slat chrome grille and the traditional hood ornament.

Sigh, as expected, MB follows what other companies do with their models, same corporate look, save money, more $$$ to shareholders forget about what drivers want, we're suckered for it. MB knows too well no matter what happens we're still buying it, no other brands that we can choose to be different between the models, this is monopolize industry. Shame on MB, with the best looking interior design then spend 10 mins to design the headlight to make us think that the look of E will be different from the rest, what an awful day!
