Audio Stopping - No sound - a sporadic issue.
My guess this is another issue they will need to address: I'll get in the car and start driving and the audio won't come on with the radio or media. Only works after I've turned off the car and let it reset for an unknown period of time. Has happened several times. I noticed someone else on another thread had mentioned the same thing. Need to call pest control!

same thing happened to my Fiance when she was driving it. I had an issue where the controls completely glitched out on me and the screen was very odd resolution.
Was stuck on 1 xm channel but was able to use the left steering controls only to change audio.

I checked with MB customer support AND my dealer and both said it's the first they hears of it. When I said others on the forums were mentioning it, they responded as if I had four eyes.

On my nine month old 16 GLC the radio sound and the Bluetooth died simultaneously. Service department replaced defective sound amplifier, located in the tailgate.
Vehicle in warranty, thank goodness.

I've owned my 2017 E300 for about 3 months now, and I've experienced the same issue with the audio unexpectedly cutting out. It's happened about 5 times. I really think it has to do with the Bluetooth connection to my phone (iPhone 7 Plus), but I'm not sure. I haven't taken the car to the dealer about this problem, as it hasn't really been a big nuisance.

Waiting in line for service for this- disc it's bluetooth
The same thing has now happened to me 3 times in the last week. No audio, on any source (AM, FM, media, Sirius etc). So I made an appointment and while waiting for the advisor, I noticed turning off the command module via center console, waiting, then turning it back on I'd get a few seconds of the radio- then silence. No audio on any source.
I turned off my Samsung galaxy S8- thus no bluetooth connection. And everything came back on. So somehow- the car must think the phone has taken over audio.
I've turned off "media" on the phone's bluetooth settings. Anyway hope this doesn't keep happening.

One thing to try for everyone:
If the sound is cutting out, right when it does, use the volume roller to turn up or turn down the volume. If you're no longer on the radio, but your phone is trying to do something, you'll see the display show that you're trying to change the call/media volume, not the radio volume. So it's a phone/bluetooth problem then.
Now reset your phone. And if it happens again later on, see if you can isolate it to an app. I have a Ring doorbell, and found that the audio from the Ring app was taking over the audio on the car, even after I'd finished viewing a video on the app. So when that happens, I kill the app. (I am on an S7 edge).

happened to me too (2 mo old 2017 E300). no audio, no carplay audio.. basically no sounds period. on/off of command didn't do anything. on/off of the engine didn't do anything. but after the car being off for about 3 hrs, the system came back to normal. dealer couldn't find any error codes (through their diagnostic tools) but they ordered a new amplifier and parts to replace
a bit disconcerting that this is happening , at least i am not alone

Happened for first time to me yesterday on way home under slightly different circumstances. Got in car, unusually car connected to Spotify on my phone and started playing straight away. Usually have to faff about to get it started. However a couple songs in I realised the track info wasn't updating and I couldn't skip tracks. I was on motorway so couldn't mess around with phone. The playlist ended and so there was silence. Tried to select other media sources but nothing came up. Tried to select dab radio and weirdly, though the car would tune to different stations and show the station graphic, no sound was coming out. Turned comand off and on with no change. Once off motorway all I did was turn Bluetooth off and on in my android phone quick menu and that released the lock it was having on comand and all was right in the world again.
So, if you get issue, maybe no need to restart phone, just turn off Bluetooth temporarily.

speakers cut out
hot day in New England and speakers cut out from all sources on E 300. Coincided with bluetooth change to wife's phone. After sitting 2 hr and changing bluetooth (iPhone 7) it started working fine.
Another suggestion like others have thought that some software related to managing bluetooth source info is screwed up. May also be aggravated by physical conditions.

Possible resolve have dealer check VMI to see if VIN is included in attached service campaign 2016110004.
