Picked it up this evening ...

My new ride ... Replaces a CLS550 that MBUSA had to buy back due to an issue with the Distronic that couldn't be fixed ... Less power but more luxury ... Fun but in a different way.

Selenite gray, macchiato beige leather, black ash, panorama roof, P3 package, 19" wheels, 12.3" video display, heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel ... I think that covers it.

Looks great! I'm still torn between black or the selenite gray for mine.

Those were my two choices ... I had an order in for an E43 in obsidian black and also one for an E300 just like the car in the picture. My salesman found it in Sugarland! Texas and was able to work a dealer trade. Glad I went with the selenite gray.

2017 E300, Selenite Grey, P2, Sport Wheel package 18" AMG, Leather seats
Nice looking car! I'm picking up a Selenite gray, P2, black leather, heated/ventilated with the 18" AMG wheels next week. I was debating if the gray would be too dark but yours looks exactly like I was hoping it would. Your wheels look great and now I'm questioning my decision of the 18's. The ordering and wait have been torture! It's been sitting at the port since Oct. 30.

Great looking vehicle! I used to have Palladium Silver on all of my recent cars, but that color option is no longer available so I too chose the Selenite Gray. The car looks very classy with this color and the finish reflects better with the darker color. I had asked my sales person if Iridium Silver was still a top choice and he told me that they ordered more white than that color.

I'll post some pictures this weekend after I clean it up after driving it for the past week.

Looks great!

I haven't decided on a color yet... I love selenite gray but I probably won't get another grey car this soon after the C450. I have been leaning towards piedmont green metallic. You need to see that color in person, the configurator isn't even close.

I know ... The hardest thing about deciding to go with the E300 was giving up th horsepower. And it was complicated further by driving an S550 as a loaner for almost three months! In the end, I went with price and th reality that this turbo 4 is quick enough to get me in trouble...

Congrats!

Congratulations on your new ride. I have a 2017 E300 that's very similar to yours (same P3 package, 19" sport wheels, 2nd 12.3" screen, pano roof). Mine is Polar White with Nut Brown interior. I've owned the car for 2 months and I absolutely love it. I have not found the 4 cylinder engine to be lacking in power at all. Enjoy your new car!

Some people have said that while the e300 is plenty quick off the line, it lacks the highway passing power of the prior e350 engine. Do you have any issues there? Did you ever drive the e350? Thanks. Regards. Ned.

I owned a 2012 E350 ... always thought it was quick on the highway, especially for passing, but nothing like my CLS of course. So far my impression of the E300 is that it feels similar to my 350. I will probably end up driving in sport or sport + mode ... I do not expect this new car to have the same umph as the CLS in the 60 to 90 test .... but I'm enjoying th driving experience overall so far.

Do you find the 19 inch rims too hard on rough roads or does the suspension take care of it? Do you have the same suspension that comes on the e43? Thanks. Regards. Ned.

I havent had had any issues with passing power at highway speeds. But I never drove the E350, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Ned.

If you look through the past posts about concerns over passing, it is not from people who have driven the E300. Rather, it is the anticipation of a problem because the motor is a turbo 4. So far those who have them are not complaining.

Not that I have a long history with the new E300, but I had one for 4 days and 175 miles of seat time and the power was just fine.

No complaints from this driver after putting more than 500 miles on the vehicle in the past two weeks. The power is more than sufficient at the low end to get on a crowded interstate and not feel challenged. Of course, I am positive that my previous E550 would definitely win the quarter mile challenge!

I think the issue people were concerned about was mid to upper range power, acceleration in the 50-80 mph range. You have no issues coming from an e550? I have a 2011 e550 and am afraid I would find the e300 lacking in power. You don't feel that way? Thanks. Regards. Ned.

Surprisingly, not at all. There is more than sufficient power to accelerate from 60-75. The transmission really is what makes the difference. The E550 never felt as good as this at low speeds because of the gearing. The 9-speed keeps the engine around 1800-2100 rpms in all gears up to 70mph. That is the sweet spot of the torque curve. Not enough miles to test at higher levels until I get 1,000 miles on the engine.

Your 2011 E550 has 382 HP, but is normally aspirated and lacks that low-end oomph that I had with my bi-turbo 2013 E550. The difference in the hp between the two cars was not that significant, but the low-end torque and the flatness of the torque curve on the 2013 made it a much different car for me (and I have owned both). I didn't buy this E300 to run on the track so the 0-60 time is more than OK. I did have a 2016 C63s on order last year before I started to hear about the lack of quality control on the W205 and trim parts falling off the car sides. Now that's a powerful machine, but totally different from the E-Class in comfort and features.

Ask me again in two years when the E63 becomes available to be built.
