Black vs. Obsidian Black Metallic
Thinking about ordering Black, but not sure how Black is different from Obsidian Black Metallic.
Has anyone actually compared Black & Obsidian Black Metallic?
Is there any noticeable difference?

I just finished a 4 year lease with a C350 that was Obsidian Black. The Obsidian Black is a like a deep dark grey when compared to regular black. If you are looking for a traditional black, Obsidian Black is not it. However it does look sharp.

It's black with metallic flaking in the paint. The color can really change depending on the light, how bright the sun is. I had a 2001 e55 in obsidian black and sometimes it looked great, in the right light and other times I wished I had gotten straight black, Mercedes does black incredibly well. Obsidian black can be different from company to company and subtly change every few years as well. Depending on the flaking, it can take on a greyish or blue-ish hue. Regards. Ned.

I love obsidian black and this is my second benz with it. In most situations, it is going to look black to you. Only under the bright sun directly on it will you see that it is not a true deep black, but a deep charcoal gray with a hint of bronze. Most importantly, if you are not someone who washes and details your car often, it is important to understand that the metallic flakes will help hide blemishes and swirls better than just the plain black. Plain black will look dull and show swirls if not tended to.

Mercedes black is one of the best blacks. Rich, incredible depth and luster. But you become a slave to it. I had two of them.
The obsidian black has a gray sparkle to it and looks a bit dull to me.
