W213 Wood Trim Issue

Hello.
I am living in South Korea.

I found some gaps between wood trim and air vent in my car.
Do you have similar issue on the wood trim ?
Do you know why this happens?

With the brown wood trim that doesn't look that big but the black wood trim looks like a pretty big gap. In mine, I haven't noticed any gaps between my vents and wood trim

Have you tried to adjust the nozzles, move them towards the gap? Perhaps the hole on the wood is too big and the nozzles do not self-align properly. By manual adjustment you might be able to close the gap without opening a gap on the opposite side.

Note that I did not check how the nozzles are secured. Might be necessary to remove the panel first.

Thank you!

Looks like Chinese Q/A isn't quite up to German standards. That is also true of US built MB's. My C class had a few cosmetic issues too.

This car is German built

Yes. looks like Chinese quality assurance, but every Mercedes in South Korea is German built. That is serious.

My Germany built E300 has many cosmetic issues. The loaners have the same problems.

Nicht sehr gut!!!!
I was hoping the ones from the "fatherland" had better attention to detail.

Perhaps with the AMG line. It's inevitable that mistakes will be introduced along with introductions of new car and production expansions for the lower rung models.

I have similar gaps on my E300 loaner, black ash. Probably wouldn't have noticed but they are there. Adjusting vents does not solve the gap.

Just a thought - Wood expands and constricts. The gap might be more visible in certain weather condition. MB might also leave a wider gap on purpose to avoid splitting the trim.

Just went to check mine burl walnut wood it is pretty close to perfect. I wonder those gaps only happen on the natural wood trims. I first liked the look of the natural wood trim. But after see it in person and compare to the tradition clear coat over the wood trim, I had to go back to it.

Could you be more specific on that. Did you try to move the nozzle ring and got a gap on both sides? Adjusting the front part should either delete the gap or make it appear evenly all around the nozzle ring.

I tried to move the nozzle ring to see if the gaps changed at all. They did not, meaning the ring returned to the original position. There did not seem to be any "play" in terms of adjustment.

The gaps are not uniform, but as I said before, I likely would not have noticed them in an all black interior.

Today, I just visited Mercedes official maintenance center to ask my wood trim problem. Advisor recommends me to change wood trim. That's why he knows that to modify the position of nozzle ring is not the solution. So new wood trim will arrive after 10days from Germany.
