Ordered a 2017 E wagon today

We have a 2008 wagon that came with a space saver spare but it also has a retaining bolt to keep it from sliding around. You'll also need a jack and lug wrench and some way of keeping those from rattling around.
Let us know what your solution is.

Our 2017 E wagon exists. It is on its way to United States. It should be at the dealership in mid to late June.

Ask your salesperson to log into Netstar and ask for the current status. If it's passed through Bremerhaven, it should be on a ship already. Netstar will also have the ship name. Our W213S is on the Sunrise Ace.

2008 C300 Manual Sport. 2017 E400 Wagon
Have had my 17 E400 Lunar Blue wagon with Package 3, 18"AMG wheels with RFTs and no spare for about a month now. FYI: no room for mini spare as I have been told and looks like thay moved the battery in that location. A factory tire inflater and jack for that area from MB parts counter is available for extra $$$. I have purchased those and contemplating a mini spare purchase for long trips as I am new to RFT on trust or peace of mind.
Strong learning curve on the electronics but a nice car and E400 is fast enough for me. Still thinking about EL warranty too. Any comments on that is appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback on your tire experience. Good to know to be calm and collected in a flat tire situation. Like diesels as well but not many available here. Thanks again

Some like RFT for the reasons you state. Others, such as myself, HATE them, as when compared to conventional tires, are noisy, rough riding, difficult if not impossible to repair, expensive and many times difficult to find when needed.
Not having a spare is much more serious, especially when driving out of metro areas. Go on a cross country trip, hit a road hazard that SHREDS your tire and you are up the proverbial SHxT creek! Sure, you can call Roadside Assistance, but they don't carry tires and you are in for a ride in the cab of a tow truck. If your family is with you, this inconvenience-- not to mention DANGER--expands exponentially. If you are driving on some 20" wheels with fairly exotic RFT, can't you just hear ol' Earl at the "fillin' station" say "I ain't naer seen a tar like this un before. I'll have to call Omaha in the mornin'. You folks better check into the No-Tell Motel, down yonder." However, if you had a spare, sitting untouched, under the floor of your trunk, where any sane motorist knows one BELONGS, along with a jack & tool kit, you would be back on your way in an hour or less.
I realize that this may sound extreme, but having a jack & spare is just common sense. It kills me that MB has found it necessary to take this rudimentary, inexpensive, potentially life saving feature away from us. To make matters worse, they purposely deleted the space for even a compact spare, so that even if an owner wants to provide their own spare, there is no place to conveniently put one.
I drive a 2015 S550 sedan. The RFT were swapped out by the dealer for Bridgestone Serenity Plus conventional tires. I carry a compact spare that sits on top of the trunk floor. It takes up space, but provides amazing peace of mind. My tires are smooth, silent and comfortable. The crap I put up with to stay with MB!

Thanks Streamliner for the bottom line opinion as I completely agree. The reality is our German company supplier of fine cars has lost the idea of driving scenarios of the wide open spaces and/or safety in these United States. MB seemingly rather do thinking of US mandatory jump seats in a wagon (an option in the rest of global deliveries) and lack of any spare for all cars rather than the overall safety of driver, family and the $80k vehicle in the middle of the desert or mountain area. Unfortunately I will be doing the same as yourself with a mini spare sliding around in the back area on long trips. Maybe MB will be reading this Forum and get back to reality of the passenger experience.

Does anyone know whether you can disassemble the jump seat in the 2017 wagon and fit a mini spare in the area occupied by the jump seat? Looking at our 2014 wagon, it appears this may be possible. If possible, this would mean the spare would not be visible and slide around.

Unfortunately in my 2017 wagon, it looks like a very large battery takes 1/3 that space. Disassembling the jump seat is an idea but I do not believe is the problem as much as the new battery location. Historically jump seats footing sat or lay flat above the spare location as in the 2017 but is now, right side looking in as a carpet covered size cover the size of a battery sharing the old spare location. Room for a jack, room for tire inflator. from MB parts but not much room for much else. If a mini spare could be installed under the floor the tire/rim would have to be 4" -4 1/2 wide above the battery box, unsure of diameter, and you would loose the foot seating area of the jump seat in my opinion.

Sjnorte, you asked about opinions concerning extended warranties. I intend to purchase a Mercedes 75000 mile 5 year warranty. The cost will be $3200 with a $1000 credit from the warranty on our trade in.
I ordered P3 which seems to contain a lot of complex technology.
After expiration of the 50000 mile warranty our 2013 ML it developed problems with the navigation system. It was taken to the dealership several times. There was no charge. We generally keep a new purchase 4 years. I like to cap the maintenance and repair cost at time of purchase. On 2 Mercedes, I purchased the extra warranty and never used it. Some of the people commenting report significant problems with their new purchases. There is a thread on how to use the Lemon Law on your new purchase. Personally, I would rather avoid the hassle of having a Mercedes out of warranty which becomes a lemon.
I also am going to purchase the prepaid maintenance. The dealership told me the cost saving I'd 34 percent. This is based upon Iowa Mercedes labor rate. I can imagine the savings would be significantly more in Chicago, or other more expensive areas.

Probably will pull the trigger on the ELW , just the decision on picking the correct one for my needs is difficult enough.
Thank for the warranty information as well.
