How to replace center console
I was astounded at the labor cost for replacing the center console described in a previous post so I thought I would share my experience. I live in Canada and have a 2018 E43 which came stock with the black piano plastic console. Apparently the only option for the center console here is the black piano plastic which we all agree is difficult to keep scratch free. The wood trim I have is Black Ash Open Pore so the dealer was able to order a replacement console using an 2018 E63 VIN. It is not an exact match as the E43 wood has a higher gloss finish than the E63 wood but it is close enough. In addition it has the AMG logo on it whereas the E43 console does not. The price for the console was $800 CAD which I was told is a discount of $200 CAD from list price and the labor cost was $85 CAD.

Question is what center console, except the piano black one fits the designo black panels? Thats a problem that they have nice expensive designo panels, but the only one that fits to that color is the cheapest, plastic one.

Do you all think that the Center Console In Natural Grain Grey Ash Wood from the CLS 450 would fit in the 2019 E450? I think it might provide a lovely complement to my aluminum trim.

The interior of the CLS and the E Sedan with the exception of the air vents appear to be identical, so it would make sense the parts are interchangeable. It would certainly save money to not have to maintain stock of two totally different parts for two cars when one part can serve both cars. Best way to find out is to ask your dealer for the part numbers.

I am really struggling with removing the center console. The 4 torx screws were minimal effort but with the write ups in this thrdead the plastic trim piece should be removed by lifting it upwards. I am putti g ao much pressure on the console wedging it up and its not budging.
Can anyone that did removed thr console provide any suggestions if I’m missing something? I dont see a reason why it would be attached to anything. Help!

Do you mean the armrest locking assembly or the entire console?

The console with all the controls, I am trying to get to the comand. It is just not budging, wiggling it from side to side and pulling up from the bottom part where the mouse control and nothing. I know I am missing something. TIA.

I got it out. I had to have 2 other set of hands that tried. It was just stuck in there a little bit harder than it should have been apparently.
But for sure THANK YOU to VIC VIPER and KONIGSTIGER after studying the tutorial and the diagram to see where the clip points are, confidence got it accomplished.

Here is my center console removal video guide. As some members were asking to see an actual live process of removing the console before they take up the task on their own, and didnt want to have someone else do it. ENJOY.

vic_viper - thanks for this thread, I want to do this on my 2017 CPO. But I noticed that your pictures seem much nicer than some of the others, looks like maybe it's a sunlight issue, but there's a lot of reflection on the wood grain in some of the other pictures, while yours doesn't seem to have this issue. Can you confirm if your center console, when in direct sunlight, looks the same as the other pictures in this thread? Thanks!

I never seen a wood grain to reflect sunlight ( black ash or brown ash) . What i see in the pictures is flashlight from the photo camera.

So today my iPhone cable got stuck under the lid of the cup holders / ashtray. As I pulled the cord out a small metal clip (L shaped) came loose and now my lid won't stay shut. UGH.
Does anybody here know if this is an easy fix? I really would like to avoid taking it to the dealer.
E63 with carbon fiber trim.
