Retrofitting Coupe/Conv air vents or not?

I am torn, should I retrofit the coupe air vents or leave them as is?

I really like the sportier look of the coupe vents but then again the standard ones look very proper and classy.
Another pro is that the open/close flap knob is deleted using the coupe vents.
Having a hard time deciding here, what do you guys think?

Personally I like the look of the normal sedan ones. If you end up changing it to the coupe ones, does that mean you will replace the wood dash so that you are without the open/close knobs or will you keep them there as well?

Yes, in that case I will replace the whole panel, also replace the panel and vents behind the armrest box.

Hi Vic Viper,
i think the new coupe air vents look very cool and if you can change the vents in your car to the new look coupe ones it would make the interior of you car sportier and quite unique, if you go all the way with the job like you are saying please take some pics and post on here for all of us to see.

My take is the coupe vents look great on the coupe/cabrio. For the sedan/wagons, I like the originals better.

And so it begins..

Don't reinvent the wheel. Those turbo vents look great on the coupe.

Yes, but inside of the car, how do you know its a coupe or a sedan? ;)

The turbine vents are great to live with - nice and easy to adjust and point. I also agree they’ll look great in your w213...

It's a coupe if the passengers in the back have bruises on their head.

I usually count the number of doors.

Hmmm, that CLS400 you have is called a coupe. 4 doors?

Calling the CLS a coupe does not make it a coupe.

There is also a practical advantage to the swap, in the "knob style" flap adjuster it is sometimes hard to select a flow value of about 50%, the knob tends to go back to fully open.

So you are saying you can close off each vent off instead two at a time? If so this would solve the annoying slow airflow out of the center vents. They don't even hit your face to cool you off.

vic viper 09-23-2017 02:55 AM

Yesn, they are individually adjustable.

Parts keep coming in

Dont think so as they are different sizes, but Ill look into that while swapping.

Hi Vic,

has this been taken further?
Did you retrofit the coupe air vents?

Looking forward to do the same.
Do you have a hint on how to change the outer air vents near the windows?

Thank you
Best, Florian
