Alarm just went off - seems spuroius

Anyone have any issues with their car alarm. Mine just went off outside my house. Heard alarm, few seconds later and by time I'd gone to investigate the siren had stopped and just the hazards were flashing. Weirdly the interior light was on and I thought someone had gained entry but it was still locked.

So first question I guess, is it normal for interior light to turn on when alarm sounds. Seems odd to me. Second, assuming no faults and without gaining entry, what sets the alarm off? Heavy knock do it?

This better not be yet another electrical/software gremlin with the car as I'm selling the damn thing if it is.

App is showing nothing odd. As per physical car it shows everything locked and closed. Reading manual suggests it only happens if cat inclination changes (no sinkhole had opened up so that's ruled out), interior protection is triggered (nothing in car and no windows/pan roof open) or the door or bonnet is open. All of which are shut. It's feeling like a sensor gremlin issue is likely, yet again. Fingers crossed it doesn't keep going off now.

could u tell me if u get any messages on your phone when alarm goes off? As far as I know you don't, which seems weird with a "connected car"...

No message sent to app however I often have connection problems with the Mercedes me app and I opened the car/cancelled the alarm within 1 minute. I did read in the manual that if the car goes off for more then one minute or calls Mercedes, but I have no idea what action they take on such an event.

I once had a Volvo and the alarm on it went off a few nights in a row when it was parked outside my house.

It turned out to be a big fat moth inside the car that started flying around when the street lights came on....

I won't share that with the wife, she's terrified of moths!
