iPhone 8 plus Wireless Charging
Happy to report on my ride yesterday the 8 plus charged and fits with just a little bit raised but not enough to keep it from charging. I have not tried with a case yet and I plan on getting the clear tech 21 case. Will report back one I try it. Nice not having to deal with cable.

Thats not the worst. When I'm driving from Orlando to Tampa it can potentially charge my phone to over 50%

I wonder if MB could support fast charging.

i saw a youtube car review video, where the phone will still charge even if you lay it on top of the cover that covers that area. Has anyone given this a try? With this method the size of the phone woudlnt matter.

My iPhone X has a relatively slim case and fits and charges just fine in the charging bay. I have yet to see it is still fits when it is plugged in which is (unfortunately/stupidly) required for Apple CarPlay. My 6+ did NOT fit.

Supposedly it activates Apple Pay whenever you set it down on the charging pad? Can anyone verify this?

For iPhone X, you might want to read about this to re-consider this phone unless you want to change a different car:

I have the iPhone X with an apple leather case. I charge it in my 2018 E43 daily. It charges decently well but is not fast by any means. With the case on, there is barely any extra room, maybe about 8-9mm. Yes, apple pay automatically activates. Yes, it is annoying.

My iPhone X wirelessly charges just fine without bringing up Apple Pay, but only after the latest software update (11.1.2) and a phone restart. Everything works as it should.

I played with my friend's iPhone X and I tried charging it in my car with a case on it. It fits perfectly with a case (not the black bulky cases but the thinner otter box cases, I think this is the case he had on it).

Apple has just released iOS 11.2 which supports faster wireless charging (7.5 watts instead of 5 watts). Anyone notice faster wireless charging in their E class after installing the update?

I have not updated to 11.2 yet, but with 11.1.1 I don’t see any problem with Apple Pay when putting the iPhone X on the mat. When I put my iPhone 7 Plus on the mat it would bring up Apple Pay. What I do find really annoying is that if I put the iPhone X in the cup holder, Apple Pay is constantly trying to activate. I don’t recall this problem with my iPhone 7 Plus.
I too have found that I use the Mercedes navigation and audio interface over CarPlay because CarPlay doesn’t take advantageous of that gorgeous screen. The fact that you must plug it in to the exposed USB port also detracts from its use.

I have the same issue at times where if I have my iPhone X in the cup holder Apple Pay will activate. The reason is that the NFC transceiver is in the wood cover for the cup holder - not the charging mat.
I don’t have it in the cup holder usually so it doesn’t pose much of an issue.

My iPhone X charges nicely in my 2018 E400 Coupe. I fixed the Apple Pay problem by turning it off on the phone (settings, wallet & apple pay — turn "double-click" and "payments on Mac" to OFF). I had no intention of ever ever using it anyway.
UPDATE: With iOS 12 you also have to turn off "Apple Pay Cash."

wireless charger saves me some money for the Apple accessory. but I don't know if wireless chargers support all the iPhone.
