anyone retro fit the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster?

the only option id like to have is the wide screen dash. has anyone attempted to retro fit?

secondly, has anyone retro fit the LED distribution bar behind the instrument cluster that is lacking in cars without the digital instrument cluster?

Thanks!

My guess is that its basically its impossible given that you would probably have to replace the entire dash not just the gauge cluster at a cost of thousands of dollars. Vic Viper probably knows, he's the upgrade pro.

The software will be quite different and it may be unobtainable.

It will only work if you have the COMAND system, if you have the analog display and the small infotainment screen it wont work.
You will also need access to Xentry diagnosis to SCN code the widescreen display as well as adjusting the odometer and service data.

I hadn't noticed that the regular gauges were part of the same unit since I only saw it once. MB mostly avoids showing the single display unit anywhere, its understandable since its pretty ugly.

It is possible and not complicated

Perhaps not. But securing an OEM digital dash isn't inexpensive and it requires more than just plugging it in. It has to be properly programmed.

There are several vids on YouTube showing this "retrofit", including one that appears to show a full wide screen cockpit replacing analog gauges and small screen infotainment. Parts cost and programing are not mentioned. Does it void a warranty if not on the vehicle build sheet? No idea. Good luck, and keep us posted (because it's worthwhile IMO).

There are warranty considerations with the parts and related systems changed. The all digital display is truly an upgrade, but it may be best to wait until after the warranty expires, if applicable.

Good advice, unless one wants to bite the bullet and have the dealer order a digital instrument cluster and do the installation. Before I got the E450 and was driving the E400, I asked if my dealer could to this and they said sure, but the cost was very high at that time.

Has anyone done this?? I'm looking to buy an E but most people haven't spec'd this, and the ones that do have things I don't want, so would be interested in doing this.

The Problem I got is that when I change to the wide screen cluster. I'm missing 2 wire to connect to my new wide screen cluster. anyway to solve it ?

What wires are you missing, maybe your car didn’t come with the option for that. One is the heads up display. The new display will also require coding and changing your miles to be what you had on the old one.
