Anyone figure out how to get into engineering menu?
Found a few youtube videos, but doesn't work on my car:

Btw, also can't get into service, nor dealer menu.

I did not view the video. Here are the steps my dealer gave me.

Code:1 Close engine hood, doors and trunk lid or liftgate. 2 Switch electronic ignition lock control unit to position "1". There may be no fault messages in the multifunction display. 3 Use swipe movements on the finger navigation pad to select the "Trip" menu item. 4 Use swipe movements on the finger navigation pad in the "Trip" menu to select the standard "Total distance" display. 5 Press and hold the "Back" button for 1.5 s and press on the finger navigation pad. The workshop menu with the following tabs is shown: "Vehicle data", "Dynamometer test", "Lining change mode", "ASSYST PLUS", "Head-up-display" if installed 6 Press Back" button again until the workshop entry menu is shown. 7 Use swipe movements on the finger navigation pad to select and confirm the "Trip" menu item. 8 Switch electronic ignition lock control unit to position "0".

thanks, but that does not seem to work on my car.
maybe I need to change the display style to classic... will try again late;
though i'm not so interested in this menu
BTW dealer menu does work:
go to car menu icon and hold main dial button down for 10 seconds..
though nothing interesting can be found here
the engineering menu is where the gold is apparently. (you can set DVD in motion, mirror link...)

Do you have COMAND online with the 12" screen or the other system with the smaller screen? They are two different systems, and likely have different commands.

I've got the wide screen like in the youtub vid.
but there are quite a few comments there of other people who can't get it to work

Same issue here, I read it's disabled by default and has to be enabled first to make it appear by holding the scroll wheel. Strange that no one knows how to make this happen. As of now only the guy who posted the video is the one I've seen confirming that it works.

Evidently engineering mode first must be enabled via Xentry. An OBD tool won't work. I came across this info on another site.
Comand NTG5.1 does have an engineering mode like the previous Comand systems, but it is disabled by default. It can be enabled through Vediamo, by setting the "Download" parameter "DL_Switch_Engineering_Mode" to "ON". This can be found under "HU5S1" -> "Download". See attached pictures for details. Note that I've only tried this using the "HU5S1.cbf" file with Xentry. Looking at "HU5.cbf" and "HU5_ENTRY.cbf", it doesn't look like they have an engineering mode that can be enabled through Vediamo.
Don't forget to "reboot" the Comand HeadUnit after making changes! "Rebooting" it can be done in Vediamo under "HU5S1" -> "Function" -> "FN_HardReset", which causes it to reboot. I have not found it to lose any settings when I do this, so I think it's safe, but YMMV.
After it's been switched on, the key command to enter engineering mode is "Phone HangUp" + "1" + "#" on the main headunit.
Be careful, as there are settings in there that can seriously mess it up. All the warnings and dangers that applied for the previous engineering modes also apply to this one.

Just curious, does this void the warranty or cause any issues if you're leasing the car?
Trying to find a shop that might have these MB service tools and can unlock it for me. Really want Mirrorlink especially.

have my car at dealer for b-service.
they just called to say it's ready.
when i pick it up, they'll explain to me how the engineer menu works, which i asked them to unlock :-)
will report back once i've fiddled around with it.

one thin is screen mirrror, but there are apparently several other things you cna unlock.

Well... I posted too soon.
they activated some sort of menu in the left screen, which gives useless information about the car. (will post pics of this later on)
when I explained them what I DID want, they didn't know this menu even existed.
(even when I showed them the dealer menu, the were unaware of it.)
I pressed them a bit about it, saying that, if they weren't allowed to activate the engineering menu, to just tell me.. but they seemed genuinely not to know

I encountered the same problem in the US. MBUSA told my dealer that they were not allowed to enable the engineering menu and would not give them the specifics to do so. The only method is via bootleg software - Vediamo and Xentry with the appropriate parameter files.
