I tapped into the thickest pink wires and purple wires that are going to the amp. The amp was located on the driver's rear trunk panel. tap into those with a 2 channel crossover. Always recommended to take your 12v lead directly from the battery. Buy a crossover with a blue remote wire.

can you send pictures please?

I would, but I'd rather not take everything apart just to do that. I will be doing one for a E400 Coupe soon. Do you have a sedan or coupe? https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...119d911e36.jpg

Finished product. Amp is located in in the spare area underneath.

Thanks for the info. I have the sedan and want to add a sub also. Is that your trunk space?

Yes. Depending on the subwoofer, I can build it to look completely flush. I can ship it to you, if you’re interested. Btw, the pink and purple pairs I tapped into are the front subs. You can tap into whatever you want, that was just my choice.

I couldn't tap into any wiring, even if I wanted to. I am not at all mechanical. I would need to find an installer and builder like you in the DC area. Thanks

An installer is probably the way to go. There is a lot of digital signal processing (DSP) going on in the Burmester system and from the discussion I had with a local installer, it may not be straightforward what the best way to do this is. That's not to say you can't get good results different ways, but the 'best' way could be very complicated. I don't know if the base system (non Burmester) is more conventionally set up.

I had a 8" sub installed in the trunk, only on one side so I could fold down one side of the back seat.

I had a separate 650 watt amp to drive the sub.

The installers disabled the woofers in the front compartments and tapped into those wires.

Also had a woofer signal dial knob installed under the right side panel beneath the steering wheel, for adjusting the loudness of the woofer.

runmkm,
What system was the subwoofer installed in; Base, Burmester 13 speaker, or High End Burmester?

Do you mind letting me know what you paid for that?

I have been concerned about the loss of space in the trunk, if I install a sub woofer there. I need to fold down both seats occasionally. Also, why did you disable both woofers?
