Distronic stopping interval adjustment?
I am familiar with using the cruise control lever to set the desired following distance from the vehicle in front, but is there any way to adjust the stopped distance from the car in front when traffic comes to a full stop?
It appears that no matter how the following distance is set, the car stops about six feet from the car in front in stop-and-go traffic. This is cutting it a bit close for me. I'd like the car to stop ten or twelve feet back, just for a little more safety cushion and relaxed driving. Is the stopped interval adjustable?

The distance setting is actually a time setting between cars so the actual distance between cars gets bigger with faster speed.

that's what i said.. you can't
and as in slow traffic the distance between u and car in front gets smaller, his "problem" gets worse.
(ie the feeling that the car brakes at last moment)

Tyres and tarmac. That's what you should see in front of you when stopoed in traffic. If you can't see both you've stopped too close. This allows you to get round car in front if a problem occurs. Standard advanced driving technique.
Saying that I wasn't fussed how close the Merc stopped itself behind other cars, usually seemed a little closer than I'd like but okay.

I always leave maneuvering room in the front and side of my car. As Proeliator posted it is a standard security driving technique taught in virtually every executive protection driving course offered worldwide.

The dealership CAN adjust this parameter. I usually leave my distance set about 2-3 clicks away from maximum distance and it always stops far enough away that I can bail if I need to.

It *should* be adjustable. My '15 E350's Distronic wasn't using enough braking force initially when I got it and the dealer was able to remedy it on the first try. Probably the only MB problem I had with that car which was able to be fixed on the first try.
I find my E300 leaves enough room to get out of the way... FWIW I normally drive with Distronic on and the Agility Select mode to Eco, since this seems to give the smoothest Distronic performance. Not sure if this also helps with stopped distance, but that's how I have mine set.
