Speaker covers

Hi guys,

I just wanted to get your opinion on something before I make the order. I don't have the Burmester sound system on my E class so the standard one has the standard black caps on the doors. I found some covers for the 4 door speakers:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/stai...999.278.cKUuBz
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-...999.262.Z8A8Rh
As far as I can see the covers are mounted on the existing ones with some sort of tape. My question is what is you opinion on this change? Does that tape ruin the original caps should I ever want to take them off or does it increase the difficulty in taking the lids of if in the future the speaker needs changing?
Would you guys do it to your car?
Th reason I want those is because I have the black wood ash insertion in the door and that one is black and it looks a bit monotone with the black speakers, if it was the standard Gray metallic insertion I would leave the black ones but like this I think the silver speaker covers will look better.
Let me know what you guys think and thanks in advance for the input.

Cheers

So you want to cover the Harman Kardon logos with no-name, silver bling? All the people who have ridden in my car who know anything about audio systems see the HK on the wing speakers and remark, "Wow, nice stereo system."

I guess I just don't get it.

I like the chrome look better with the wood ash insertion. Black on black seems a bit too ...SAD for my taste. It is not about the fact that it says HK or Burmester. I just feel the silver lids would give a better contrast and look better for my taste. If they want to complement me on the audio system they can do it when it is playing

The E300 doesn't have HK logo. What are you guys talking about?

I know. my E220 doesn't have any logo. I want to cover the original lids with the silver ones because I think it is aesthetically more pleasing but am worried a bit about the covers' adhesive if it can ruin the original lids or impede their replacement should it be needed at one time.

Dont stick covers outside the stock ones, buy OE Burmester covers and replace them, pretty easy job and it looks a lot better.

If you know someone that sells them pls give me a link. In the mean time I saw that in order to change them the door panel has to be taken out so that is gonna be fun :)

It is a two minute job, very easy.

The downside of those glue on covers is that they look too bulky and you wont get that classy feel as the genuine Burmester grilles provide.

Yes you are right. I found a thread here where the process of taking down the door panel was explained. I am looking if I can find a video/pictures that way I know what to expect when I take it down.
On a side note do you know if this change will affect the warranty? If so maybe I would best postpone it.
Thanks

Try these guys. I've used them for genuine parts. They show a discount of about $15 below MSPR. You might try your dealer and see if they will match. Also, I'm not certain if the part # is the same for both left and right covers.

Thanks for the info but I am not sure if this will fit mine since I have the E220d. The website is for models from the US I think which is why I can't find my particular model. Anyway it is not a problem now that I know what I am looking for I should be able to find them.
Thanks again for all your help

I don't think there is any difference in interior between diesel and petrol models. But if you don't want to take a part your door panels, the best solution is to get those ''glue-on'' covers.

Personally, I think "stick on" covers of any type are a bad idea for one specific reason. If you play your music at all loud, there is a good chance you are going to get vibration in the covers, which could get transmitted to buzzing, rattling, etc. in the cabin. If the cover is glued on and you get buzzing, what do you do? Can't peel them off without wrecking what you had to start with.
If you read enough of the forum it isn't unusual to see this general problem even among OEM installs.
I guess what you have working in your favor here is they are tweeters, and there isn't as much energy there as in midrange speakers. But it just seems dicey.
