9 gear vs 7

How do you guys like the 9 gear transmission vs the 7 gear transmission - if you had it in your a Benz before?

I feel like the new 9 gear transmission makes the car a little boggy, and creates a weird vibration from the bottom of the car. Also, increase more feedback to steering wheel, pedal and the floor of the car?

Any thoughts?

I haven't had the chance to try the 7 speed in w212s but I currently own a c400 with a 7speed and the loaners ive had, which were w213 e300 and a new w205 c300 with 9 speed in it, were all smooth. The 7 speed in the w205 was really jerky, especially from the 3rd to 2nd (in comfort and above mode), but the 9 speed was silky smooth for me. However, I did notice that there was more throttle lag and just lag in power delivery overall in comfort mode. When I had the 9 speed in manual mode though, it was lightening fast compared to the 7 speed. The 7 speed is just too jerky and slow for me imo, especially when i compare it to the zf 8 speed in bimmers and the new 9 speed in mercedes.

I had the 7G Tronic+ in my 212 and 204. Overall I find the 9G to be a smoother, nicer transmission. My only complaint is a lazy downshift when in Sport mode coasting to a stop. Often I will accelerate just before stopping (such as when coming to a stop where traffic picked up speed) and hit a lag as if it's between shifts. I'll have the dealer look at it in the future, in the meantime I've adapted.

x2 about the throttle lag in Comfort mode. Throw it in Sport mode, gives you a completely different driving dynamic. Yes i wish the Comfort mode sorted out the lag but its just when im going around a slow corner and accelerating in 2-3rd gear. I KNOW the power is there, its just the delivery in Comfort mode is not the best

2019 E450 4Matic & 2018 E400 4Matic
Having two cars, one with 9G Tronic and the other without it, I can say the 9G Tronic is a much smoother transmission.

EQC 4matic AMG line Premium Plus replacing S213 220d 4matic with airmatic
Only comparing c class at moment as my eclass is seriously delayed but I think the 9speed is smoother but I was never dissatisfied with the 7. My c was a 2015 model year and I did have the firmware update early on as it very occasionally was jerky 1 to 2.

sadly l live is a country with a recently introduced 80k speed limit (down from 90k) so the 9 speed rarely gets above 7th😏

The 7G 722.9 transmission is not a good gearbox and it never was, it had during its life span massive issues with control units, servo units, failed converters, vibrations and hard shifts.
The new 9G 725.0 is by far a greater transmission, smoother and more efficient,
if you are experiencing vibrations or similar with the 725.0 something is wrong, take it to your dealer..
