I found the STFU button functions a couple of weeks ago due to annoyance... on the steering wheel left side there is a Mute button (page 218 in my manual) and also refer to page 255 to switch off navigation announcements.

Why can't the NAV input via address be as intuitive as on Waze or MapQuest?

Actually, it's pretty easy IF you use voice commands. For example, you can say, "Navigate to 200 North Main Street, Los Angeles" or "Navigate to Los Angeles City Hall." It will find the address and guide you to it, or it may give you a list of possibilities if it isn't sure of the destination you want.

I find voice command of address in the Comand system works really well.

That's surprising. I'm in the previous generation, and it works for me with no programming required.

I have my home address stored as a contact in my iPhone, although it is assigned a unique name (i.e., the contact is not named "Home"). When I press the talk button on the steering wheel and say "Navigate to [name of iPhone contact]", COMAND displays the contact on the screen and says "Would you like to start route guidance to [name of iPhone contact]?" I then say "Yes" and COMAND says "Starting route guidance."

yeah it's odd (for me) and annoying. I'll take it in to the shop and ask them to teach me.

I think E Class buyers want the latest so I personally think it makes sense. I do agree though that MB has made back their investment in COMAND and probably aren’t putting anymore R&D in to that platform, just patches. I wonder if it needs the 48 V system for it to work?
I can only say from what I have tested since I am still waiting in tears that the production of the E63 S starts after the world base MB delay.

I would like for the piano black to simply disappear from the face of the Earth
I would like to have the central console also available with metal trim
I would like to have the exhaust pipes on the E63 S similar to the base E63 (even more after seeing this configuration available on Netherlands)
Not having to go to the trunk and then back to the back seats to release them and have them lowered down
The AC vents should have something to pick them, like on the S63.
Be able to have tint windows with ACP

I find the ride quality very good but I come from lower quality cars so to me it feels great. not that stiff like I would imagine from most reviews, more given that it is a sports car.

MBUX voice command is much more sophisticated and usable for what i saw on the A class.
But I hate touch screens and find them one of the worst ideas for a car. Everything that makes you take the eyes of the road and your hands off the steering wheel is bad UI to say the least. But it seems a lost cause since every brand is incorporating this because everyone wants to look modern.

I would like the COMAND system to be more simple to use (less sub-menus, less interactions) and get rid of so much ways to use the system: mini touch pads on the steering wheel, touch pad on central console, wheel button, voice,... Too much options means that designers and UX people are wasting their time and missing the more important stuff.

by the way, what is it called this update, face-lift, whatever on this year (MY 2019) over the E class? shut down E43 after only 2 years, minor changes on Drive Pilot/Driving Assistance, motor changes on the E3xx and E4xx, and steering wheel change in the E63 to the current model in other classes? very odd decision in terms of marketing and manufacturing infra-structure. i mean, they have to change the production line, or maybe that is the reason: to have common components across the segments. But it is not nice for already owners to get such an early change... Wasn't it supposed to have a face-lift/update only in 2019?

That's not annoying to me as I often enter several destinations at one time and before I wish to use any of them.

The only thing I would classify as totally useless is the parking pilot. Everything else is pretty well thought out and works very well. Though Command is not the best system in the market, I think the one on the E class has the best by version by a significant margin. At least its the most cohesive one yet.

The analog clock, when there are two digital clocks in the displays.
The "Menu" switch that does nothing.

sure it is less comfortable than an inflated tire but it can be more safe in case of puncture at high speeds. the problem I see is the profile that is chosen by manufacturers, going for thinner and thinner versions

First, any run flat tire will compromise performance and/or comfort when inflated, which will be 99.999% of its useful life. As for failures at speed, run flats offer no more safety than conventional tires.

Second, the promise of driving after loss of air (not massive failure) is even more compromised. Driving any significance distance risks destroying the wheel. And driving any signifcant speed risks more than that.

Yes, flats and other tire failures have become more rare, and saving a fraction of a mpg, while meaningless to an individual, might add up globally. But when flats happen, especially in remote locations, a true spare tire is absolutely necessary.

That's handy for places like here in Australia where you might be driving in the outback or even remote areas and there is no service or tyre places

On a fully loaded car run flats are only good for short distance. Even in densely populated Florida often there is not a service facility within range thanks to self service gas stations that offer only fuel and snacks.

I think the difference in the speedometer graphics between classic and sport is nothing but just a different color, where progressive changes the entire thing.

one thing that i would REALLY like is more options for the interior colors. Only black/grey, brown and beige is not sufficient

in particular, would like to have seats in 2 different colors, like BMW has done in the new M5 or even MB in the new A.class.

it's absolutely ridiculous having the entry level car with more beautiful interior colors for the seats than a high ticket car like an AMG E63 S.

A redesign of the transmission shifter. If they want to leave the center console open then use a rotary dial, a push button system or redesign the column shifter so that it has more heft. The present shifter feels too flimsy to me.

The shifter is meant to be used with your fingers like your turn signal arm.

Me too! If I get behind the wheel of any other car, I wind up turning on the windshield wipers as I've grown so accustomed to the MB Shifter on the stalk. It feels fine to me, but then I've had one now since 2016, so it's second nature after all this time.

Perhaps. It still feels flimsy to me even after 6 months. And since I have paddle shifters I can "flick" them with my fingers with the same intensity I might use for using the windshield wiper switch. It might add weight, but a heftier actuator for the shift column would still be preferred. Or a column or push button would be fine too for me.
