Will the iPhone XS Plus fit in the wireless charging area?

I’m about to do my pre-order for the new iPhone XS Plus and I became hesitant because I don’t know if it will fit in the wireless charging area.

Does anyone have experience with fitting an iPhone 8 Plus in that area and having it charge? I did a search and can’t find a conclusive answer for that. Currently my iPhone X fits and charges with no issues. I’d like to get the larger size this year but if it won’t fit the charging bay then I’m sticking to the same size on the XS.

Measure the charging bay on your car and compare it to the iPhone dimensions.

iPhone 7 Plus is listed at the following site as compatible with QI charging and the iPhone XS Max is smaller than the 7 Plus.
iPhone 7 Plus: 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3mm
iPhone XS Max: 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7mm

It's actually called iPhone XS Max and NO, it will not lay flat in the charging mat. I currently have iPhone X in a slim case and it barely fits, but it does fit. I can assure you the XS Max, will not. When I plug it in to use Apple CarPlay, it doesn't fit at all. I'm still getting the XS Max regardless. I'm not letting the built in charging mat determine the size phone I can use.

FWIW I took a cardboard cutout to my MB dealer this morning (since I don’t have mr car yet). The cutout if the max did fit but it won’t lie flat. Also FWIW my SA said he has seen an iPhone 8 Plus also not lie flat on the charger but it does charge.

Now, for me I don’t care because I will use CarPlay and it has to be plugged in. I did test and the cutout fir the Xs Max fits perfectly in the cup holder. I actually found my current X wiggled too much in the cup holder. That right there made my decision to buy the Max

I already have two cases heading my way for the XS Max! And I'll have Apple put on a screen protector as they use a cool machine to align it perfectly.

My cutout did not include case dimensions. I hate cases and don’t use them. Accidents are what AppleCare is for 😬

My phones are cased from the minute they come out of their box. And I do have AppleCare+ as well.

Thank you so much for that info. I think I’ll still go with the Max and just hope it charges

yeah I have friends that call me crazy. Oh well. I, personally don’t like the extra bulk and extra weight.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to start an iPhone thread 😬😳

NP. I'm level Seven in the Apple Support Forum. I spend a lot of time helping people with their iPhone issues.

Curious if you ordered your phone last night? Almost every time I get up at 3:00 AM to order one, I end up being kicked out, as their servers are usually overwhelmed. This morning, when ordering went live at like 3:05 AM, I got my order in without any hiccup and was back in bed by 3:15 AM. The XS Max will arrive a week from today!

Managed to order a MAX and a stainless watch in the first minute. Glad I got up... the watch launch day sold out in under two minutes some web sites say

We bought Apple Watch 3 last December, so I'm going to hold off on the new watch for a while. Maybe Santa gifts this year? Glad to hear your experience was smooth as well. On Apple Discussion Forum, most are reporting they had no issues as well. Nice for a change.

Here's to your new car showing up at your dealer today!!

two years ago was a complete Mongolian Cluster F**k... last year was better as you could upgrade and turn in your old phone by mail. This year was very very smooth. No issues at all. Haven’t heard of too many either. Used the app rather than web site. Apple Pay made it extremely fast. Whoke process under two min

Last year was the messiest for me. I have iPhone X, but by the time I was able to get my order in at 3:35 AM, my X wasn't scheduled to arrive for 6 weeks. It did come faster, but they sold out so fast on that one and the system kept locking up, delaying my purchase further. This time I was prepared with Apple.com on my laptop. AT&T on my iPad and Apple Store App on my iPhone. LOL. I'm only upgrading this year because I love the screen resolutions SO much that I want the larger Max screen. I use my phone for work emails day and night and this will really help me. Plus being able to have a split screen on the Max to run two apps at the same time will help my work productivity as well.

I changed to the Max for the same reason. If not for the bigger screen there was no compelling reason to upgrade from last year’s X. I have been completely, 100% happy with the X, especially since installing iOS 12 three months ago. Face ID is super fast.

I've never been a Beta tester as I need my phone for work and can't take the chance the beta software will cause me issues. I'm looking forward to being able to add a second face to Face ID on both phone. At least I hope that feature made it through?

I'm so glad. I'm the device manager at home. So, it will really help when I can enter my partners phone by Face ID as opposed to having input the code each time.

screen time works very well also. I look at it this way, if it pisses my kids off, it must be working 😬

watch OS5 is also great. Been very happy with the new workout features. Tried walkie talkie a couple times, too much trouble... just made a phone call

Thanks for the feedback. I'll upgrade to OS5 and iOS12 Monday when it's officially released.
