Retrofitting widescreen cockpit on car with analog + command online
Hello guys, i wonder if the mentioned retrofit is possible, i saw some videos from elebest, it seems simple plug and play with bit of coding, but im worried if MB dealer is going to that for me?
Does anyone have experience with anything similar? Thanks!

You can basically get a full digital screen and replace it with no problem, it's an easy task.
but as i know, you would need a coding job, which i haven't seen nor heard anyone done it here.
keep me posted if you found someone.

To buy OEM, is very difficult and VERY expensive. But yes, it can be done.

i sent mail to my authorized dealer, waited for answer more then 1 week, they told me its impossible (i supposed they didnt even bother checking, and then decided to blatantly lie considering youtube videos literally look like simple plug and play with 3 screws installation, except the coding part which is probably only real work...)

Well they cost over 3 grand new, a used screen does not have to be a bad thing, ask the seller if it is scratch free, and if it isnt youll be protected by ebay or paypal.

I think cars now are much less modifiable, I think that’s a word lol. Years ago I’m sure it would have been easier.
My friend has a brand new BMW X5 diesel and he wanted to replace the Xenon lights to LED. The computer required coding and that’s not worth the hassle. Shipping out the ECU or good luck finding a local shop to code, let alone void the warranty.
The cars systems all communicate and as small as some new head lights might throw an error somewhere and it’s not worth dealing with.
Gotta buy the car with the goodies, can’t change them easy anyore

Since every one I saw was in Europe (saw none in the US), I'm just not comfortable spending over a $1000 dollars on a used screen to be shipped from Europe. If I could see it personally, maybe I'd have more confidence. Then there's worrying that it may not turn on. Plus having to go through the hassle of hoping my dealer would even install it. Overall, I've come to the conclusion that as nice as the digital instrument cluster is, it isn't worth the hassle of trying to get one retro-fitted. But that may just be me.

Having said that, have you contacted any US dealers about availability and cost? How does Europe have all these screens, new and/or used, available when they seem difficult to get even in new US cars? Something's fishy.

IMO the digital screen is worth pursuing further. It makes the already terrific interior even more special. There are several YouTube vid showing the swap. I seem to recall them being Asian rather than European. No matter, it obviously can be done.

the problem is I already got 1 on the way to my place, but I didnt expect all the hassle with my local dealer. Labor work here is pretty cheap (<40$/hour even in MB), the problem is that i will be stuck with OEM widescreen cockpit with no options where to go for the swap... I know its my own fault but still, im willing to travel up to 1000 km for someone to do the coding part for me, but i dont know where to ask now

Good news is that solution is on the way, retrofit will take place in 10 days, I can keep you guys posted and take pictures/video with results, if anyone is interested.

Hello all, I live in East London and can provide/fit and code for a retrofit widescreen. Please note you cannot use a second hand widescreen as your mileage will show as - - - - - and there will be error lights. You need a new screen unit and a second hand comand unit will do. I can provide these for £2400. Coding will cost £300. Also if you would like the ambient lighting around it that would be £250 including fitting. PM me for any other details.
If you live in the US or CA, I can deliver and remote code, youll need someone that has a star tool and would allow me to code.

If you havent bought the car yet, its better to spend extra 3-4k a buy a car that has it. If not, contact me after purchase as you can come to workshop. Prices have changed slightly as the coding can take 2 hours to 25 hours

Has anyone had success retrofitting these? I'd especially be curious to hear from people in the US/California. I'm looking at doing this to my W213.
I've reached out to EleBest (Based in Singapore) and InCarPassion (Based in China), who have both expressed that they offer new (not used) Widescreen Clusters. But once you get the cluster, you need to do some coding. They said that you can get a dealer or an independent shop to do it, or you can have them remote code it, but you'll need some special (expensive) tools like Xentry or DTS or Vediamo and a C4/C5 tool kit.
Has anyone gotten a dealer to do this? Any independent shops you could recommend?
