Ordered a 2019 GLE 43 AMG

After rejecting our new 2019 E450 sedan, I am now waiting for our 2019 GLE 43 Coupe AMG in a few weeks....:zoom:

vic viper 09-24-2018 03:40 PM

Just before the all new GLE is coming out?

haibieb 09-24-2018 03:42 PM

It is the coupe and not the GLE SUV. The 2020 GLE will not be out to dealers, I am informed, until mid next year.

Iíve heard if theyíre lucky they should have it in dealerships by August in Canada for the GLE450. Itís interesting that it comes with MBUX so Iím guessing next years W213 E will also come with MBUX. It sucks for anyone ordering a 2019 because I emailed Mercedes-Benz Canada and they said :

ďUnfortunately, it will not be possible to retrofit MBUX to any vehicles due to the complex interconnectivity of the telematics systems and the unique parts that would be required to do so.

We apologies if we could not provide a more positive answer.
Should you have any further requirements please do not hesitate to contact us.Ē

Its interesting because I read on multiple sites before that it would be possible to retrofit it from a dealership, so I donít know what to really believe right now. Will just have to wait and see.

petee1997 09-25-2018 01:26 PM

What is MBUX?

teksurv 09-25-2018 02:13 PM

Mercedes-Benz User Experience. The next generation of interface software, in place of COMAND. Debuted on the new A-Class.

Hereís a short video showing itís capabilities.
Thereís more videos online and itís currently only available on the A Class and will be available on the 2020 GLE and Iím guessing the 2020 E Class might get it too

Cambridgehank 09-25-2018 04:45 PM

My dealer/salesman has suggested I wait for the 2020. He knows I like the techie stuff and he feels MBUX will be beyond what we have now.
Just watched a YouTube Video and I am not sure the current navigation is what I expected from MB. Could not see if route guidance showed all the information that my WAZE app does.

ua549 09-25-2018 05:41 PM

It doesn't. MBUX will be much better than the very old COMAND system.

If you don't mind my asking, what caused you to reject the 2019 E450 sedan? Fit and finish issues?

i think the driver door alignment was off and other quality control issues

vic viper 09-26-2018 01:00 AM

If you think the current COMAND is old just take a look at the current GLE, it is a dinosaur, when ordering HUD youll get a box with a transparent plastic screen on top of the dash :)

ua549 09-26-2018 07:20 AM

I had a 2018 GLE loaner and the interior was mostly older C class style.

jhpmbusa 09-26-2018 01:57 PM

despite the interior. which is still pretty manly and classic considering it is still an SUV and has amg touches. the drive is extremely fun.

I would take it over my e300 anyday if the price was close and mpg wasnt as bad,

haibieb 09-26-2018 06:19 PM

Rejected due to a misaligned driver's door upper trim piece. The salesperson took it to the body shop and in order to possibly correct the issue, the door would have had to be removed and re-installed with no assurance that all other alignment body surface would align. A step that I would not accept. I was a bit disappointed. Recently, a few E class sedans that i noticed in the lot, had misaligned trim pieces as well. I hope that the new GLE 43 AMG will fare better. I just refuse to accept an MB or other high end vehicle with such quality built. MB needs to tighten their quality control. Just my opinion. With regards to the comment of the interior of the GLE, let me say that I had a 2018 E400 convertible with basically all options and encountered terrible quality issues with interior, exterior trim pieces (including the entire dash board )had to be replaced and multiple electrical issues with camera and hard top. So being a new model brings many unknown reliability issues as well. MB USA finally repurchased our vehicle in August. The transaction was handle very professionally and painless :zoom:

Don't feel bad. I ordered a CLS550 with the Selenite Magno matte paint, waited 7 months for it to arrive...only to have the paint seriously damaged. The dealership tried to fix it, claiming it was "water" under the paint or something. I rejected it and then had to scramble just find a car (i had already turned in my leased car and had no car.)

It was an infuriating experience.

Just heard that the GLE 43 AMG Coupe did not appear in the October Program Sheet. Therefore, it will most likely not be release this October...WTF. I guess too many 2019 GLE'S in dealerships. Time to move on to other models. Great job MB. :zoom:

ua549 10-02-2018 09:47 AM

Info from the Paris auto show indicates that the completely new 2020 GLE will be out next spring. Link

If I were you I'd be tempted to abandon MB altogether.

After waiting and waiting for MB to release the GLE 43 AMG Coupe, I have changed my order for the new 2019 CLS 450 (Black/Black). The unit is well equipped and should be at my dealer shortly. This will be our second CLS 450 (2015). :zoom:

Congrats. The CLS is a great car, for sure!

haibieb 10-25-2018 07:10 PM

RBRYLAW: The CLS was the best MB we ever had….hopefully, the new one will be as good or better. Can't wait to experience the new I-6 engine… :zoom:

The I6 is going to be something special! When you say it will be here soon, how soon is soon?

teksurv 10-25-2018 07:29 PM

Congrats haibieb, the CLS is a superior choice (IMHO).

haibieb 10-25-2018 07:33 PM

MB issued notifications to its dealer network this week that the CLS's were to start shipping to dealer networks. Our unit, I am informed is at the port. :zoom:
