Ordered a 2019 GLE 43 AMG
After rejecting our new 2019 E450 sedan, I am now waiting for our 2019 GLE 43 Coupe AMG in a few weeks....:zoom:
|
Just before the all new GLE is coming out?
|
It is the coupe and not the GLE SUV. The 2020 GLE will not be out to dealers, I am informed, until mid next year.

“Unfortunately, it will not be possible to retrofit MBUX to any vehicles due to the complex interconnectivity of the telematics systems and the unique parts that would be required to do so. We apologies if we could not provide a more positive answer. Should you have any further requirements please do not hesitate to contact us.” Its interesting because I read on multiple sites before that it would be possible to retrofit it from a dealership, so I don’t know what to really believe right now. Will just have to wait and see. |
What is MBUX?
|
Mercedes-Benz User Experience. The next generation of interface software, in place of COMAND. Debuted on the new A-Class.

Here’s a short video showing it’s capabilities. There’s more videos online and it’s currently only available on the A Class and will be available on the 2020 GLE and I’m guessing the 2020 E Class might get it too |
My dealer/salesman has suggested I wait for the 2020. He knows I like the techie stuff and he feels MBUX will be beyond what we have now.
Just watched a YouTube Video and I am not sure the current navigation is what I expected from MB. Could not see if route guidance showed all the information that my WAZE app does. |
It doesn't. MBUX will be much better than the very old COMAND system.

If you don't mind my asking, what caused you to reject the 2019 E450 sedan? Fit and finish issues?

If you think the current COMAND is old just take a look at the current GLE, it is a dinosaur, when ordering HUD youll get a box with a transparent plastic screen on top of the dash :)
|
I had a 2018 GLE loaner and the interior was mostly older C class style.
|
despite the interior. which is still pretty manly and classic considering it is still an SUV and has amg touches. the drive is extremely fun.
I would take it over my e300 anyday if the price was close and mpg wasnt as bad, |
Rejected due to a misaligned driver's door upper trim piece. The salesperson took it to the body shop and in order to possibly correct the issue, the door would have had to be removed and re-installed with no assurance that all other alignment body surface would align. A step that I would not accept. I was a bit disappointed. Recently, a few E class sedans that i noticed in the lot, had misaligned trim pieces as well. I hope that the new GLE 43 AMG will fare better. I just refuse to accept an MB or other high end vehicle with such quality built. MB needs to tighten their quality control. Just my opinion. With regards to the comment of the interior of the GLE, let me say that I had a 2018 E400 convertible with basically all options and encountered terrible quality issues with interior, exterior trim pieces (including the entire dash board )had to be replaced and multiple electrical issues with camera and hard top. So being a new model brings many unknown reliability issues as well. MB USA finally repurchased our vehicle in August. The transaction was handle very professionally and painless :zoom:

Don't feel bad. I ordered a CLS550 with the Selenite Magno matte paint, waited 7 months for it to arrive...only to have the paint seriously damaged. The dealership tried to fix it, claiming it was "water" under the paint or something. I rejected it and then had to scramble just find a car (i had already turned in my leased car and had no car.) It was an infuriating experience. |
Just heard that the GLE 43 AMG Coupe did not appear in the October Program Sheet. Therefore, it will most likely not be release this October...WTF. I guess too many 2019 GLE'S in dealerships. Time to move on to other models. Great job MB. :zoom:

Info from the Paris auto show indicates that the completely new 2020 GLE will be out next spring. Link

After waiting and waiting for MB to release the GLE 43 AMG Coupe, I have changed my order for the new 2019 CLS 450 (Black/Black). The unit is well equipped and should be at my dealer shortly. This will be our second CLS 450 (2015). :zoom:

RBRYLAW: The CLS was the best MB we ever had….hopefully, the new one will be as good or better. Can't wait to experience the new I-6 engine… :zoom:

Congrats haibieb, the CLS is a superior choice (IMHO).
|
MB issued notifications to its dealer network this week that the CLS's were to start shipping to dealer networks. Our unit, I am informed is at the port. :zoom:

Hope you enjoy the new CLS as much as the old gen. let us know immediately, very interested in the outcome! I say they will feel like completely 2 different cars other than the name

Will do…..:zoom:

I think the A Class is going to be a class leading seller for MB. It's filled with amazing tech for the age group most likely to buy the car. The reviews have been really amazing. I'm not sure any of MB's competitors have anything which really competes well with it.
|
My fear is that MB continues to make cars down the MSRP scale and may in the end, water down the brand. The newly appointed chairman at MB, hinted at looking at the various models out there and may make cuts to streamline MB. You just can not be everything to everyone without having an adverse re-action to your product and service. Just my opinion. :zoom:
|
It's hard to say what the future holds for MB. One would imagine the C, E, S to stay around for years to come. In the US, they have always been big sellers. SUV's are also big, so the GLC, GLE and GLS are likely not going anywhere. Within each model however there are likely some which don't sell as well as others. For example, the C Cabriolet (at least at my dealer) doesn't sell nearly as well as the E Cabriolet. Same for the Coupe variants of both models. The GLC and GLE Coupes likely sell in fewer numbers. The lower sellers would be one way to trim the stable, without burning the barn down.
|
The current Audi A/S/RS 3 put a fair amount of pressure on MB with the outgoing CLA. Competition is great. Younger buyers are a strong market segment, and they may not care about the higher class cars in the range. The E class fits my needs, and with EV and SUVs growing in popularity, I'm just glad to have what I do.
