I don't know leasing, but if one dealer tells you this is it, get up and walk. I am good in bargaining, I got the price that Edmond said is in the top 2% bargain. Remember, they need to sell the cars, You have the money, you have the power. I don't care about incentives, special. Do your research with Edmond, True Car and other places. The more you have in your car, the more you can bargain.

did you shop with MB Edmonton west? they’re pretty firm on not giving discounts, I couldn’t get them to budge on a demo model 2017 E300 so I walked away from them and tried a dealership in Calgary like lone star who were more reasonable on discounting. However, I factory ordered one and all the dealerships told me they couldn’t discount any of those. Idk if it was bs or if it’s just some Canada thing but I was fine paying full price since we had a cpsa rebate

its a college of physicians and surgeons rebate for people working in the medical field. It was $1500 for the E Class. It’s usually higher ($15,000 almost) for the S Class. There’s also a chartered professional accountant rebate available for accountants and a $1,000 loyalty and 1% interest rate reduction but since it’s our first MB we weren’t eligible

There is no cpsa rebate but from CMA which gives you 750 $ less , you can push your salesman to give 2-5 % off mrsp .

thats interesting since my dealership told me it would be $1500 but I logged into the CMA site and it says $750 for 2019 E Classes. I might have to get an update from them since I think they might reduce it to $750 once we take delivery.

Oh hell no. The S class had $10,000 off for finance/leasing but that's for all. Professional designations and such discounts are not more than $2,000, for the S. As a member of the law society, my discount for the S was $1500, but another corporate discount got me $2,000. I would expect your discount to be $1500 as well.

Apologies, I just looked at the CMA page again and realized my numbers are highly off lol. There’s a finance/lease incentive of $10,000 from MB Canada on 2018 S Class. The CMA discount is only $1,000 for the S Class but for some reason on the CMA page I can only see model year 2017 cars now and the 19s are gone but it should be around the same ballpark for 18s and 19s. I was told $15,000 by the dealer for the S and I’m guessing they most likely combined the CMA discount with the financing/leasing incentive from MB Canada and a couple thousand off to try to sell it faster since it’s been on the lot for a few months now. For the E they told me it’s $750 now when I called back since I can’t access 2018 or 2019 CMA discount for Mercedes so I have to rely on what my dealer says since for some reason I can’t seem to access it anymore. I’ll try to get official numbers since I accessed the 2019 MY CMA rebates page a few days ago but for some reason when I click it now it takes me to the 2017 MY.

edit : found it through MB Canada website and you’re right it’s $1000 for the S and $750 for the E.

Not yet since they launched fairly recently. A lot of the 2018s have 3 months payment waived and cash credit but nothing so far for most 2019s.

In the UK they are currently offering 3 years free service which for my AMG will save me about £2.5k over 3 years.

This is new for almost all automakers. They know people want the latest and greatest. Why would a carmaker give a discount when they are launching a brand new model year?

Wait until spring/summer if you want a deal. On the E it's 3 months waived, and $1K off if you belong to a professional association. That and I believe 1.9% financing up to 60 mnths.

It was common for an American car to lose 50% of its value after three years, while a Mercedes, like a Steinway piano, which was initially much more expensive, held its value.

That is no longer true. An E Class, just like an American car, will lose about 50% of its value after three years. The difference of course is that an American Car costing $35,000 loses $17,500 while an E Class Mercedes costing $70,000 loses $35,000.

With this in mind is it any wonder that to entice sales Mercedes is offering incentives?

I think we're talking about two different demographics here.I don't know of many American sedans that cost $70,000, but anyway, cars in that category lose a bunch of value within the first 3-4 years. It's just depreciation at play. I don't know how to write this nicely, and I mean no ill will or malice in any way, or snark for that matter, but I feel that if depreciation is a key concern for a luxo-barge, perhaps financially speaking, it's not a right decision for the buyers of these cars.

If MB wants to just entice sales due to depreciation, and they're willing to do so at the launch of a MY, they should just lower the price all up. MB doesn't do this, because they can then use incentives in H2, and that's what they've always done.

I'm also not one for saying that I don't want discounts - I'm waiting for my $12,000 discount in March of 2019 for the S class...but I also get why they're not starting with that discount as MY19 S classes are just being released now. Something about a cake and eating it too

My post said the American cars cost $35,000 (not $70,000) and loses 50% of its value in 3 years, $17,500. The Mercedes cost $70,000 and loses $35,000.

There was a time, in the 1970's, 1980's and early 1990's, when my father was buying his Mercedes that they held their value: I remember his first 1968 280 SE: He paid $12,500. At that time a top of the line Cadillac was about $3.800. Ten years later he traded in the 1968 for a 1978 E Class coupe and received $10,000 in trade. The Cadillac was of course worthless.

My first Mercedes was a 1984 E 300 Turbo diesel. I believe I paid $22,500. Sold it 5 years later with 65,000 miles for $16,500!

Those days are gone - Mercedes holding their value - I am speaking about mass produced Mercedes not collector items: (and only the future determines what a collector car will be!)

I beg to differ about depreciation, I really do care about the cost of ownership and depreciation is a cost of ownership.. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and of course there is no way of knowing whether you are right or wrong.
