The WORST MB I’VE OWNED
FOR ALL OF YOU CONSIDERING BUYING AN E CLASS, DON’T! I’VE BEEN BUYING MBS FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS AND THIS ONE IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF GARBAGE I’VE EVER OWNED.
1-BATTERY DOESN’T HOLD A CHARGE FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS
2- AUTOMATIC STEERING WHEEL AND DRIVERS SEAT DOESN’T MOVE UP AND BACK WHEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF, SO MUCH FOR THE COMFORT EXIT OPTION
3-RUN FLAT TIRES THAT GO FLAT ON THEIR OWN! TIRES WILL NOT HOLD AIR,
THEY LOOSE 2 POUNDS EVERY NIGHT!
4-SO UNDERPOWERED IT REALLY IS DANGEROUS, MB HAS NO BUSINESS PUTTING A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE IN A
2 TON CAR.
5- DISTRONIC SYSTEM THAT HAS A BUILT IN ACTION THAT ANTICIPATES UPCOMING CURVES AND STARTS TO TURN THE CAR IN THAT DIRECTION,
PROBLEM IS IT DOES THIS ON THE HIGHWAY EVEN WHEN THERE ARE NO CURVES UPCOMING IN THE ROAD.
MY CAR STARTED TO TURN TO THE LEFT AT 65 MPH IN A STRAIGHT AWAY ON THE HIGHWAY AND I BARELY WAS ABLE TO HIT THE CANCEL BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL BEFORE HITTING THE CAR NEXT TO ME.
THIS CAR IMO IS DANGEROUS AND I PLAN ON GETTING RID OF IT ASAP.
THE PROBLEM STEMS FROM SEVERAL ISSUES THE FIRST IS THAT THESE SYSTEMS WERE NOT ADEQUATELY TESTED BEFORE BEING PUT INTO USE.
MB IT ITS SHORT SIGHTED EFFORT TO CATCH MARKET SHARE JUST ROLLED IT OUT AND FIGURED THEY’LL JUST FIX THEM AS THEY OCCUR. MY NIGHTMARE LISTED FOR $66,500 AND FOR A CAR WITH A PRICE TSG LIKE THIS THESE PROBLEMS ARE INEXCUSABLE. MB HAS
THROWN QC OUT THE WINDOW, THERE’S NO OTHER WAY TO PUT IT.
THIS CAR REMINDS ME OF MY 1978
CHEVY CAMARO, JUNK! FOR YOUR OWN PIECE OF MIND AND GETTING YOUR MONEYS WORTH DONT EVEN CONSIDER BUYING THIS NIGHTMARE
IF YOU LIKE GERMAN CARS GO BUY AN AUDI A6 AND SAVE YOURSELF A BAG OF HEADACHES. LUCK TO ALL

Some of the cars are duds.......I've had great success with MB being reliable: W212, W219 and even the W222. Sorry you must have gotten a bad one. Doesn't the dealer want to make it right for you?

THE DEALER
SOFTWARE AND THEN MB GIVES IT TO ONE OF THEIR STAFF ENGINEERS TO COME UP WITH A “BAT” FILE TO FIX IT, IT TAKES 7-10 DAYS. ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN BUYING MB’S FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS CAN SEE MB IS ONLY INTERESTED IN INCREASING THEIR MARKETSHARE. ARE YOU DRIVING A W213 NOW?

Typing everything in capitals is seen as SHOUTING and is very difficult to read for other people.
Do the tyres lose 2 PSI everyday, or just the first day, and on all 4 wheels? So on day 2 they will have lost 2 PSi, day 3 they will have lost 4 PSi?
Battery may not be the battery, but something draining the system, assume the dealer has done a power leak test? If it is a leak, then time to pull fuses until the circuit is identified.
The 4 cylinder engine is not an issue in the car, there are many slower cars on the roads in the US, so its not dangerous if driven correctly. Clearly not what you want performance wise, did you even test drive one with the same engine to assure you were happy with its performance?
Other issues would be of a concern if the dealer can't get to the bottom of them. I'd be getting rid if I were as unhappy with it as you appear, so good luck with your next car.

So let me see if I'm getting this right. You've not been happy with your car, therefore they are ALL horrible and no one should buy one. Sorry, but that's just dumb. Many here have the E class and many are thrilled with them, myself included. Sorry you're not happy, but your hope of turning people off from buying one won't hurt Mercedes one bit. You just look like someone who is disgruntled and frankly irrational.
Good luck with whatever other car you buy.
And, it is considered shouting and rude to type in all caps on internet forums.

I truly believe that RIAMGA is truly frustrated with his current MB. i was in similar situation for about 9 months with my previous 2018 E400 Convertible. In my case, MB did the right thing and re-purchased our car without much hassle this past August. Now, I am waiting to get our 10th MB. I looked at Audi, Range Rover, BMW and returned to MB. Every manufacturer has its issues with every model they make. You just hope that you are not the one who wins the "Lottery." Lets hope for the best all around.

As for the tires losing 2 psi's every day, just have the dealer remount the tires. Probably a bad seal or you have some slow leak/nail in the tires.
Otherwise those other problems don't sound too bad. There's always issues with new cars. New car surveys in the first few months always seem to average at least 2-3 problems per car manufacturer, the better ones may be a little over one and the "bad" ones may be 3 or more.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
All the issues other than the Distronic can be taken care of fairly easily. The lack of power issue, I just can't understand that? You must have a E300? Thats the one with the 4cyl. I see in your profile it says you have a S450, that car is a twin turbo V6 like the E450. But must be a different car your talking about as the S450 definitely does not have a 4 cyl. I've driven the 4 cyl E300 many times as a loaner car from my dealer and never saw any issues with Lack of power, I was actually surprised how well it moved along for being a 4 cylinder, at first I thought, wow 4 cyl in such a big car, but I found it to be adequate.
The one thing that does scare me a little bit is what you said about the new GPS guided Distronic cruise control. I guess I'll find out that one soon enough as I'm probably getting my e450 this coming week. I suppose worse comes to worse I'll turn off the steering assist.

I don't believe that GPS guides Distronic cruise control. If it did, Distronic would not function well when a GPS signal is intermittent or missing. AFAIK Distronic uses camera and radar input for guidance. GPS is not accurate enough.

Pretty sure you're absolutely correct on that. It could disastrous if GPS guided Distronic. It's all based on camera and radar input, as it should be.

I have had two E300's as a loaner to replace my S550, and it felt like a larger C300. I have had several C300 loaners and preferred them to the E300, as the E just felt larger. I am sure the E400/450 feels more substancial and like a middle ground between the C and the S. However, sound insulation was quite good on the E. I did notice a rattle in the center console on a brand new car!

From what I’ve read gps is added into the mix of Distronic on the 2019s. I realize the speed is controlled by the front radar and the steering is controlled by the optical sensors at the center top of the windshield. Supposevely the new 2019s are suppose to slow down for corners and the only way it could do that is via GPS. Even in my 2018 it reads speed limit signs and slows down school zones or when the speed limit changes. I even think with that though it may use map data from the gps as sometimes you will be driving along the highway and the car will abruptly slow down to 25 as it picks up a low speed sign from a road running near the highway. At any rate I normally leave speed limit adoption off under the assistance setting. Hopefully with this new for 2019 gps speed and corner adoption there is a way to defeat it in the settings I’m sure there would be.

At any rate to the original poster you should be able to turn off adoption under your assistance settings. It is right there under the assistance drop down menu. This will take care of the issue you are having. If in doubt ask the dealer they will do it for you. With the tires loosing air have the dealer remove the ones loosing air and wire brush around where the bead meets the rim and put the tire back on and rebalance. Beforehand they can spray a little soapy water mix around the shrauder valve base and the valve itself under the cap. Also Spray around the bead. When leaking around the bead we would see air bubbles after spraying. This is a simple fix. As far as lowered power. Ya it’s nothing like the 8 in the S class or the 8 in my 603 hp AMG. But I found surprisingly adequate in the e300 and C300 cars I have driven. At any rate don’t go telling people not to buy these cars because they are darn good cars. The issues with your car are easily addressable.

I was surprised to read that Car and Driver's latest reliability rating guide listed the W213 as the most unreliable MB they "rank".

I guess C&D did not get much advertising from MB this year. CR rated the Volvo the worse in one of their "50" surveys they do for their subscribers. You just do not know what survey to believe these days.

Yes, I take these surveys with a grain of salt at best. I go by my personal experience and that's been my MB cars have been beyond reliable and trustworthy. Having driven both the E300 and E400 for the last couple months, we've had absolutely no issues with anything at all. I fully expect my experience with my E450 to be stellar as well.
