I suppose I'm so used to the memory seat adjustment by holding the button until the seat fully adjusts that I didn't realize it's been changed for the 2019 model year.

From the owner's manual for the 2019 Model E:

"Press memory button M together with one of preset position buttons 1, 2 or 3. An acoustic signal sounds. The settings are stored.

To call up: press or briefly hold preset position button 1, 2 or 3. The front seat, the steering column, the Head-up Display and the outside mirror move to the stored position."

I'd like to clarify that the above would lead you to believe you need to press the M and a preset button at the very same time. You don't have to push them together. You can press M, then one of the 3 presets and you'll hear the beep indicating the memory is stored.

I think the question revolves around being able to press quickly an already preset seat memory function. Press 1 and have it adjust versus press and hold.

Yes and by posting what I posted, it says you just have to briefly hold the button and the seat will adjust. My final comment only clarifies you don't need to push the M and Seat Position button at the very same time to program a memory position.

even though annoying, i think one good part about holding the button is you never know when u might need it to stop moving... ? like crushing someone or something lol

Coincidentally I discovered today that I have to hold the button untill the end of the movement while driving. Only when stationary a brief press without hold is required.

Makes sense, because imagine you pressed a setting that would push you all the way back and you cant reach the brake or gas, now that would be frightening!

The reverse is also true - push a button and be crushed by the steering wheel. (I drive with the seat all the way back and wish for more driver leg room.)

The trunk lid and windows already have auto-stop safety features. Why not the front seats? Press and release memory seat movement and fully functioning entry/exit convenience, when the car is not in motion, are worth it IMO.

And to those who celebrate it, Happy Thanksgiving. 🍗

2019 E53 it is NOT necessary to hold the memory seat button. Just press and release and the seat moves to the programmed position.

2020 E450
Angry Easy Entry System Issue

I just picked up a 2020 E450 a couple weeks ago. When the salesman went over the options with me he setup the easy entry system
for the steering wheel and the seat. It worked fine for several days and then I noticed it stopped working. Made an appointment for service
and the technician said he updated the software and now it’s working again. He said I needed to reset the memory on the seat because I
lost the memorywhen he updated software. I picked up the car and it was working again. When I got home I set the memory on the seat
and that caused the easy entry to stop working. That’s probably why I lost it the first time when I originally set the memory on the seat.
Bringing it back to dealer next week. Has anyone experienced this problem?

What exactly stopped working? Does it not move to your position when you press the button (easy entry)? Or not move back all the way when you park and open the door (easy exit)? If it's the latter, it may be the normal operation because it doesn't trigger easy exit unless the seat is pretty far forward. It does for my wife but not for me, even though there are a couple of inches to go back from my seating position. The book says that it won't move back if the seat is already fully back but they really mean within a few inches of fully back.

You can test that by setting a memory further up than you would comfortably drive, save that position, and see if easy exit works again.

Easy Entry/Exit feature not working appropriately.

I just purchased a E350 and the seat won’t move back as it should. I took it to the dealership and they updated software and said it was working better than ever. I got I. The car and set the memory on seat function and now it doesn’t work again. (I actually never seen it work but I set the memory before testing). I’m calling dealership in the morning. Please share if you receive answers on your E450.

Hi there, i've been to dealer for battery change and after that easy-entry stoped working. They told me that i need to do re-calibration procedure. Does anyone knows how to do it on W213 220D European version ?

Dealer needs to revisit to recalibrate using Xentry (MB diagnostics) at no cost. Assumption, dealer “may” have ignored step 13 utilizing Xentry.

Understand, i will visit him next month, too many appointments for now But if i want to calibrate the position of the driver seat, i mean the closest/ farthest + steering wheel to set up his highest/ lowest position for easy-entry? On my W164 i have to push the seat to one of directions far position and hold it for 10 sec. Does it the same on w213 (Euro model ).
Apropo, my main battery was changed 3 times since March... Don't ask me why (stupid Stealership)

The seat on my 2019 E220 does not run back automatically for egress. I use memory 3.
Took it to MB for other work and asked them to look at it but still inoperative.
Should it work on my car. I see it has been inhibited in the past?

After reading this entire thread...I am confused, LOL. On my 2018 E300 -- nothing happens ever. No steering wheel moving, no seat movement, nothing. Is this a setting/feature that needs to be enabled? Thanks.

My multimedia system is the latter but car first registered March 2019 so perhaps belongs to earlier build?

Is there any way of telling build year from VIN?

Thanks, Peter.

If you have both wheel & seat choice in settings have MB revisit to correct under warranty utilizing Xentry (MB diagnostics).

2019 E53 Coupe
I’m not sure why this issued is so complicated. Many seem to have problems with this feature. The Easy Entry/Exit feature didn’t work as expected when I got the 2019 E53. Only the steering wheel moved. If I remember correctly, the seat recline moved up also, but the seat did not slide back or forward. The dealer couldn’t make the seat move. After a COMAND update both the seat and steering wheel moved as expected. A later COMAND update seems to have changed the function of the feature. Now, the steering wheel and seat back recline move, but the seat does not go forward or back.
