Car saved my bacon yesterday

My new E450 Cab saved me from a potential wreck yesterday!

Someone was entering the road I was driving 50 mph on and they must they have overshot the turn and must have been heading for the right side of my car.

Before I knew what was happening, the car pulled Itself hard to the left, very tightly sinched my seatbelt, and instantly inflated my right seat bolster causing me to be pushed a couple inches away from the right side. The COMAND screen showed a graphic of a potential right side impact.

It was just enough as the car didn’t hit me.

As soon as the event was over, the car released all the safety measures it had triggered and everything went back to normal.

All I can say is WOW.

I'm glad it worked the way it should have worked, but am sorry you had to have it do it's thing in the first place.

I experienced a similar situation recently. I was on my way to work and it was raining. The car before me slammed on the brakes and car immediately slammed on the brakes while tightening the seat belt while the side bolsters collapsed inwards to secure me in the seat. The guy behind me was going so fast that he almost slammed in my rear but luckily shifted left towards the center median.

I've been saved a number of times going back to my 2012 AMG model, pretty amazing technology.

Incredible.

We don't talk about these safety features much, yet they're arguably the most important.

EQC 4matic AMG line Premium Plus replacing S213 220d 4matic with airmatic
So glad no impact occurred. It is one of the reasons i buy Mercedes. As i get older i become more aware of just how dangerous driving is and i could never live with myself if i was the cause of major harm to another person.

You are putting things in a very nice and selfless prospective but you also can say it this way:

"I could never live with myself if I was the cause of a deadly harm to my own person"
