Imagine waking up to this (a bit off topic)

My brother drives a C-class & woke up to this, this morning.
(It's the only thing they took, as they left his wallet which he had forgotten to take out…)
car's parked right in front of his house….

What in the actual hell?!!

nycebo 11-26-2018 08:25 AM

Whoa, please say you are kidding. :-(

Sorry for your brother to have to deal with it. It's a clearly a pro job since they knew exactly what they wanted to take and nothing more.

Alas, such is the state of affairs in many cities in Europe. I've not yet experienced this in NYC (after 24 years) but my car was twice broken into or stolen when I lived in Atlanta. It's parking outside. It's a gamble.

Lanzz 11-26-2018 08:58 AM

If there's any silver lining, it looks like a clean job that will be relatively easy to fix. But wow, a surgical strike for sure... Surprised they left wheels and tires.

haibieb 11-26-2018 09:10 AM

WOW. Certainly a professional job. It is scary that these issues still occur.

rbrylaw 11-26-2018 09:28 AM

WOW, is all I can say............

teksurv 11-26-2018 09:44 AM

Oh wow, so sorry to see this. As was mentioned, given the apparent precision with which this happened, hopefully repairs are swift.

Egonvdv 11-26-2018 10:43 AM

I work with my brother, but he had the day off today. he only sent me the pic this morning.
He just now called me: turns out they also stole the steering wheel!
Car on the way to the garage now, from there it's an insurance matter.
And to think he didn't want to pay the 500eur for an alarm. not that that prevents 100pct but still...

joshg1001 11-26-2018 11:06 AM

Wow.

But there is a steering wheel in the pic

Egonvdv 11-26-2018 11:24 AM

turns out he meant the airbag.

To the OP, my condolences to your brother. Definitely, a pro crew with a grocery list in hand.

Yes, really. Why you've just labeled me :) Thank you for taking the time to do so. Wonder where OP lives......a few more details could shed some more light on the matter. And thank you as well for your contribution. Happy.

I live in Marseille, but my brother in Martigues (40km west of Marseille), but not sure how this would clarify anything?
I don't know who did this, only that they are a bunch off *ssholes!

This, exactly, and no more descriptions required. Boxing individuals into group identities does little more than stir the hysterics on all side of the political debate. Instead, I think we can all agree that @$$holes live in all countries.

That sucks! Do you think the thieves were filling an order? How close to being 'totalled' from insurance point of view?

hyperion667 11-26-2018 03:57 PM

I thought perhaps some geographic info could give us some more details. It seems we're dealing with an advanced team of coastal car thieves. Being that close to Monaco also could be a clue to the elusive high end car theft business in Europe. A boat is a really good way to smuggle stolen, used car parts.

parkwood 11-26-2018 04:55 PM

That is horrible. Back in the uk i had a car stolen from my driveway in the evening without even hearing it and it felt very uncomfortable. The police thought it was stolen to order it was only a Ford but a mondeo early on in their production when they were much sort after. It felt like a personal violation. I can imagine your brother feels very unsettled.
Professional criminals are everywhere sadly.
Coming from the uk we were shocked to find that the alarm was an option and even more shocked when our sales guy said not to buy it.....and after 10yrs here we no longer do though we always pay for secure parking in hotels in larger towns and cities. I will say in the uk alarms go iff and no one takes any notice!
hope the insurance company deliver the goods.

thefisch 11-26-2018 06:01 PM

Unbelievable. Maybe cops should check the local body shops for a C class that had a front bumper/hood collision that triggered the airbag.

Ouch! I think I would just turn around and go back to bed :) good luck to your brother on getting it fixed, assuming it won’t just “buff right out” that’s sucks!

Absolutely you've been labeled. Racist comments such as yours needs to be called out, and not ignored or palmed off as humor. You know exactly what you mean't when you posted it. Happy? Even sadder.

I disagree, seems like people are trying to make it where everything is racist, sexist or whatever. I feel those that need to call others out have the most hidden issues. I don't want to be told what I can believe in based on someone else's beliefs, part of avoiding the hate is being open minded and not automatically thinking the worst of people.

If you don't think that comment wasn't racist or labelling immigrants as the perpetrators, then you have blinded yourself to recognizing racism or whatever and have learned to accept it as being normal. You think it open minded to just accept it? I think it's closed minded to ignore. No one's telling you want to believe. Embrace it if you will. But because you see no wrong, doesn't mean I or anyone else have to accept it. The only issue I have is seeing dumb and offensive comments posted for no reason at all except to incite. Post that crap on the political discussions board; not here.

OK, let's not ruin the OP's thread anymore.

No one's ruined anything. Just a matter of discourse that was necessary.

The OP's thread was pretty clear. A band of professional cars stripped his brother's car in France and we all feel sorry for it. Not much more to be said, other than let's hope they eventually catch the thieves.
