Wood finished steering wheel.

Just want to know if the new E comes with Woodgrain finished steering wheel in any trim. I haven’t seen any pictures of it so far. Thanks.

It's a $600 option. This photo borrowed from the MBUSA build an E Class configurator for the Interior Choices.

Looks pretty. What color is that leather?

I'm pretty sure the leather on that wheel is the same color leather we have all around our non-wood wheels. It looks a little more charcoal in the picture, but I don't think use a different leather on that wheel. Of note for the wood wheel is that's the ONLY wood you can get. Personally, I would have to choose the same interior wood as my trim, otherwise, you'd have clashing wood.

I guess to get that you'd really have to order the car. I don't think they order any in stock cars with that wood wheel, only on the S Class. With both my cars I really wanted in stock cars as I didn't want to go through the long wait. The material they use on the stock steering wheels I really like, it has a really nice feel to it. I do like the way the wood looks better, oh well can't have everything, lol. I did like the wood steering wheel in the S class I just got rid of. But I do like the new steering wheel controls a lot better. Nice not having that funky Distronic stalk on the column, I always found myself hitting the tilt stalk instead of the cruise stalk.

Damn, I meant the leather on the dash and seats (beige and brown?). Sometimes I forget that I have to type what I'm thinking. Then again, surely some of you are psychic!

Is that the same beige/cream that you have, @rbrylaw ?

I haven't seen any in stock cars with the wood wheel lately, but my dealer in years past did order them for stock on occasion. I too love not having the Cruise Control stalk on the left. Three stalks was too many and having the controls on the steering wheel are infinitely easier and more logical to use.

Psychotic maybe, but certainly not psychic here!! LOL I'm guessing that's a Luxury line, not AMG as the dash has the stitching, which isn't an option on the standard AMG. It's more than likely Stitched MBTex, but again, I'd hazard a guess it's also black, it just looks more charcoal in the picture. My car is Nut Brown and Black. I don't have beige/cream.

That's Burl Walnut and has been a staple of Mercedes for many years now.

Yes, unfortunately you can't get it if you want the heated steering wheel... a must in our climate here. If I lived back in California, I wouldn't hesitate to get it! Even if they would be willing to do just the upper half in wood, and the middle and lower in the heated leather, I'd pay extra to get it. Oh well...priorities...lol

I had a wood trim steering wheel on my 2008 Lexus LS600hl.

I really loved the look and especially the feel of the wood under my fingers.

In Maine here. I can’t have both, So, I have to decide: Comfortable warm(ish) hands for the first 10-15 minutes of driving , Dec-Mar, or the sensual feeling all the time.....Hmmmm

:ditto: Yeah, I know!! Still, $600 is still a bit pricy. Plus I love the heated steering wheel so...that's what I got.

I saw one in a showroom car when I started seriously shopping MB. So I think they do occasionally come in. Did not love the feel of it because it's not grooved for fingers on the back side. Just a personal thing. Correct me if this is wrong, but I think you cannot order it on the coupe without full burl walnut trim. Which is fine if that's the trim you want. Not sure about the sedan.

I know for the Cabriolet E450 you have to have the Light Brown Sen wood trim, which is a deal breaker for me. Natural Grain Light Brown Elm wood trim, is what I wanted and wouldn't give that up. Plus that color wood on the steering wheel doesn't make it for me. I believe it's the same requirement for the coupe as well.

I had a service loaner with the wood steering wheel (gotta love Beverly Hills) and it was great, never seen one in inventory but would add it if I was ordering. Can only be paired with Burl wood trim but IMHO that's the only trim to order (notwithstanding the fact that I have a different trim but I bought from dealer inventory).
