One must use the dealer menu to get a complete list of software versions. Not just the nav map version.

I wrote to them again and they finally reply, same old story that unless they can verify the problem, they cannot do anything because they will not get reimbursed. Seems like this is a standard excuse for computer related issue. They said they are going to get back to me soon. I mentioned about checking the latest software, it's up to them, they have our car and we have their loaner, nothing I can do or verify.

Just read this and thought I was the only one having this problem. Is there a software update for this?

I really think it's something quirky with the touchpad. The only way you can quickly change radio stations is by pressing the "Fast Forward" section of the touchpad and swiping up or down. If for whatever reason that particular switch is stuck, and the touchpad is relaying unusual data, it could switch stations, as far as I can tell. Though, one would think that you'd notice the little sub-menu popping up on your screen. I have noticed that it's easy for small particles to get wedged into the area where the touchpad is depressed, so it's possible something may have worked its way in there. Or just a faulty device.

I have disabled the touch pad in settings. I found that getting too close without touching it can be sensed as a touch. The same thing happens with my computer's touch pad.

Too bad I don't have the car, they have it and I have the loaner. The sub manual did popped up some time, BUT the station changed without the sub manual popped up, it just change.

Since I don't have the car, do you mean if I use two finger to swipe up and down to change the station, does the manual pop up first. Please tell me a little more how you use the touch pad to change the station. We definitely did not swipe the touch pad if that's what it takes to change station. Can you touch the touch pad accidentally and change the station?

I just cannot imagine the station will change if you just accidentally touch the touch pad, you have to do something like a two fingers swipe up and down.

A single touch is all it takes to change the station.

I don't use the touch pad, but I did try touching the touch pad to see whether it will change the station, it did not. Maybe I was in the wrong manual.

It depends on whether the display menu is set to radio.

Yes, it was always set on radio displaying the radio station.

Maybe if I ever get the car back, I'll set the display on something else and see whether it will switch.

I think that seriously points to a faulty touchpad. If the station menu popped up randomly while you were on another screen, and if it changed by itself while you were on the radio screen, I definitely think it's an issue with the touch pad digitizer falsely detecting inputs. I could almost 100% guarantee that replacing that part will solve your issue.

That's what I tried to convince them. Their excuse is if they cannot duplicate the problem, they cannot do anything because they will not get paid. Mercedes is really going down, their service shows. They just want to brush people off. That's why I refuse to take the car home and try any more, It's been 5 or 6 times already. I'll to higher and higher up of Mercedes, I'll go to Lemon Law lawyer instead. I pretty much told them.

I was an EE for 30 years, I designed computer hardware for years, this is quite common, you just change one part and see instead of knocking your head against the wall. I'll just keep getting after them, I'll yelp, I'll call tv station and do whatever it takes.

I just can't get over they think we are that stupid knowing there's a touch pad and we still accidentally touch that after 5 or 6 times bringing it back, like as if we don't have better things to do and we are moron that still so careless and touch the touch pad.

They are Mercedes of Stevens Creek of San Jose.

You live in an area where there are other MB dealers. Instead of being frustrated with this dealer, go to a different dealer.

It's just not right the way they treat the customers.

Don't let something that you can't control bother you. Take your business elsewhere.

I'm with UA549. Take your business somewhere else. I wouldn't stick with a dealer who didn't take care of me. You have choices. Choose another dealer.

We contacted MBUSA, they pretty much said they have the policy that if they cannot duplicate the problem, they are not going to fix it. We filed the complain to Better Business Bureau already. We are at the process of filing the complain to KGO and KPIX tv news station.

The last time, they claimed we accidentally touched the touch pad even though we had video clearly showed the driver had both hands on the steering wheel making a turn and no where close to the touch pad.

They said if we disable the touch pad, it would not change anymore. WRONG, we disabled the touch pad, it still changes, just not as often. If we end up with lemon law and win, we definitely not buying another mercedes. It's unfortunate, we had a good E class, I still have the 2014 ML that is perfect. All the computers are NOT a good thing.

Is there a reason why you’re ignoring the advice of many to take the car to another dealer? I know the area well and you have several options.

we are going to soon, but remember MBUSA already contact us that it is their policy that if they cannot reproduce the problem, they are NOT going to fix it.

AND we don't like to be LIED to our face by Mercedes of Stevens Creek.
