Traffic?

I get my 2018 E tomorrow. I have command in the car. I’m confused do I get traffic through Sirius or MBrace?

ua549 01-07-2019 05:37 PM

AFAIK In the US traffic advisories are provided via MBrace. I can't be certain because I've always had a SiriusXM (12 for $60) subscription.

There was a time when Traffic was provided via SiriusXM. That's no longer the case. Traffic is now provided by the Comand system via MBrace.

Is MBrace something that is free with new Mercedes, or do we pay for it? Familiar with Mercedes ME connect, but not MBrace.

mike82212 01-08-2019 07:14 AM

I can’t tell if it is or not. My car is being delivered at 11 today. Guess I’ll find out

bytemaster0 01-08-2019 10:42 AM

Traffic is provided via the mobile internet connection and TomTom Traffic. Those services are free for about 3 years. After that, you'll need to pay for them.

mike82212 01-08-2019 10:47 AM

So you need to pay for WiFi through MBrace?

No, you're given a limited LTE data connection. WiFi rides on top of that LTE connection, you do need to pay for a data quota if you want to use the hotspot. However, traffic and the other features simply go over LTE, just without the full internet access ability that you get when you pay for a data quota.

Great. Thank you

car is on its way to me as I write this

Your new car will have Apple Car Play and you may want to consider using WAZE. It is the best nav and traffic system out there and costs nothing if you have a data plan on your phone.

I see nothing on the MB web site or vehicle builds that discusses MBrace, 3 year trial subscription, or anything about traffic. My dealer has never mentioned anything about MBrace or a subscription and/or pricing.

Just Mercedes me connect services (3 years included) and Concierge, none of which mention traffic. Nothing about MBrace.

I agree with Petee. WAZE is the best program to use.

From MBUSA.com:
Mercedes me connect services (3 years included) $0

Yup. Waze. Police spotter and traffic rerouter. We’re deep in road construction on some key area bridges here and Waze sends me several different ways each week to work. I like the police spotter bit the best. More warning than my old detector. And no cabin clutter.

That's Me connect, not MBrace. I know about ME connect.

ua549 01-09-2019 09:30 AM

Mercedes me requires Mbrace. When I purchased my MY18 E300 Mbrace was included for 4 years.

stephos 01-09-2019 09:48 AM

I've always been happy with the traffic updates I get on my routes using Google Maps over Android Auto. I've never used waze, so I cannot comment on how it compares.

Finally located the MBrace website. The length of service has now changed. It's 5 years for MBrace connect services. Traffic is in the Concierge service, which is separate from MBrace connect. It's called the Travel & Assistance pkg, That's a one year trial; $20 month thereafter. https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/mbrace

ua549 01-09-2019 01:23 PM

Interesting how things change each year. I don't subscribe to any extras, but I still get traffic info on the nav display.

On the '19 model year, Mbrace isn't mentioned anymore - just Mercedes Me Connect. I actually tried using Me Connect in my car to cancel an older mbrace contract, and I had to call in by phone - seems they're not connected.

The ONLY thing you should be able to use Mercedes Me for on a 2019 Model Year car is use MBFS (their finance service). Otherwise, everything else is via Me Connect.

It may not be mentioned, but it indeed still exists. That's what was confusing with me until I found the latest MBrace website. Mbrace is how you get the extra services when the free trials run out.

Not in the UK Rod - There is no Me Connect just Mercedes Me and that covers pretty much everything.
