New Headlight option?

Maybe OT, maybe not.
I had an A service on one of the cars yesterday and saw these headlights on a 2019 C sedan as i was leaving. I have nevar seen them on MB before. Can anyone shed some light? Yeah, pun intended.

They look like the LED option headlights. There are also Active/advanced LED headlights which I have on my 19 C43, they turn as the steering wheel turns and self level. I'll try to take a pic tomorrow, they do look different externally.

For the 2019 model year, this was the new active LED lighting system for the C Class Mid-Cycle refresh. Whether they'll head over to the E Class is unknown, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them on the E when the E is refreshed.

These are the high performance standard LED lights on the facelifted C, equivalent to the standard LED on the E.

The upgraded ILS MULTIBEAM headlights are an option beyond this.

As stated these are facelift headlights. To me...they look like teeth.

To me, it looks more like MB copied the look Acura has used recently:

I hate the look. If they put them on the E, I'll have to move up to an S or a Bentley.

They look similar to Honda/Acura in that they use multiple segments. Honda/Acura uses a single row, where as the facelifted C lights are dual row, hence teeth.

I'm not sure about the look either. As mentioned, they look like MB copying Acura. But then again, once upon a time they all looked alike. Any info on the benefits of these over the existing 84 led matrix?

Butt ugly! Glad they aren't on my E450 CAB. :word:

Tirgoman 01-12-2019 03:27 PM

Not sure which one is "butt ugly" in your terms but to each his own opinion.
Here's what I got on my new 2019 C43 with the 319 Intelligent LED lighting package and I happen to love then, they look nice and the function of turning actively when the vehicle turns and gradually moving the beam outward and wider as conditions are appropriate is great instead of just going from low beam to high, they multi-focal.

Your headlights are way different from the original post of this thread.

And our intelligent lights on the W213 also turn as you corner.

jhpmbusa 01-28-2019 08:07 PM

so on my 2018 p2, it has the intelligent lighting which lights up the corner as you turn, also right when i start up my vehicle it does like a fancy spotlight light show and adjusts. I thought this was only on a p2, but i believe a p1 headlight did that as well But what is interesting is that in my 2019 loaner p1, it doesnt do it?

Can someone confirm if 2018 p1 does it as well? it does like a crossover of lighting when you start the car.

I believe in 2018, just as in 2019, the intelligent lights are a separate standalone option. They were for our E400 and for our E450. If your car didn't include the intelligent lighting system, they won't corner. Easy to check by looking at the lights on your car. Cars with intelligent lighting have a placard in the lights saying Intelligent Lighting.

There must be individual LEDs within our E450's as they do that cool dance when they are first turned on and it looks like a bunch of individual lights, I kinda like the look of the E lights better than these in the op's picture.

These lights are the upgraded units that are an added option. The lights in the OP are the new standard units. Both are LED.

Does your 2019 have intelligent lighting? I think in the 2018 it would dance even without it. My current loaner 2019 e300 doesn't dance, nor does it have intelligent.

Tirgoman 01-29-2019 03:22 PM

Not sure who you are asking but the Cardinal Red pic above is my 2019 C43 and I have the optional 319 lighting package which I love.
