20” Wheel Setup

Hi all,

I’m not new to MB, but new to the forum (never knew it existed). I signed up in September when I bought 2018 E300 P2 “AMG Sport” (was going to go for the P3 but I got an amazing deal because the 19’s started hitting the lot already).

I did some minor things such as tint and chrome delete. Well, I just ordered a set of 20” Vertini RF 1.3 wheels. Did a staggered setup with 20X9.5 front and 20X10.5 rear.

Given the fact the overall diameter is going to be pretty close to stock, I have a feeling the wheel gap is going to bother me. I’m torn between looks (lowering) or having the car ride like sh*t

Does anyone have any pics of a 20” setup on factory suspension (non air)?

-Chris

looks great! Does the coupe naturally sit lower than the 4 door from the factory?

The gap actually doesn’t look too bad, I was expecting it to be larger. What size tire?

What offsets? You're looking at some measurable poke especially upfront.

Clear2Close: We run Goodyear Run Flat : (F) 245 X 35 X 20" (R) 275 X 30 X 20" It does provide a very nice balance in ride and performance characteristic. I keep my air pressure at 37 front and 38 in the rear. Good luck with you project.

Thank you! I’ll post some pics when they are in

I forgot the offset I did. They’re being custom
bored so they will sit flush

Offsets are the key. Hopefully you won't be unpleasantly surprised. (Just FYI, in order to be flush, front 9.5" needs offset of around low 40s with 255 tire and 5mm more with 265 tire. With such offsets, there maybe clearance issue inboard). Keep in mind, E300 is not e63 (latter has front fenders flared by 15-20mm over former).

9" is better (it is stated 9.5" in the original post), ideal flush offset range is right around et40 +/- 3mm. Rear 10.5" IMHO is too wide, 10" is better with et48 +/- 3mm.

Yes, original 20” AMG wheels (ET49 rear, ET43 front)
lowered with H&R springs
widened with H&R 15mm TRAK spacers

Just the right hight and spaced out just right. Lowering always allows for lower offsets without poke that would otherwise be possible. Perfectly done.

ThnX, the good thing is that it has “that” look, while still being able to take the family on a fully packed holiday.
there is a clear gap between “showcar stance” (as we all want to achieve) and “daily driveabillity and family commitment” (what we all need to provide)
The sweetspot is really narrow. But I think, I’m as close as it gets. Really happy how this worked out. The car is a real neck turner now.

did the h&r’s end up settling lower than 1.2”?

I think I need to go a little lower... I did the same tire setup you have, but I have a little stretch with the 10.5” wheel

Seems your car sits a bit higher, With the H&R there is equal space around the wheels, aligns perfectly.

hopefully with the H&R it will mostly fill it. I may have to cut 1/2 a coil off for a 2” drop
