Ambient lighting

Hi all! I was in a 2019 e450 Uber the other day (I got lucky!). I noticed the ambient lighting was automatically changing colors. I don’t recall seeing this option in my car (‘17 e300). Any idea how to make it do that? Also I read somewhere you can get the color to change red when you increase the climate control temp (and blue when lowering). So cool. Possible on mine?

refer to your owners manual on interior lighting. This is from the 2019 E450 Manual:

Setting the color
# Select Color.
# Set a color.
Adjusting the brightness
# Select Brightness.
# Set a brightness value.
Activating the brightness for zones
# Select BrightnessZones.
# Activate O or deactivate ª the function.
The Display, Front and Rear zones can be set separately.
Activating multi-color lighting
# Select Multi-color.
# Activate O or deactivate ª the function.
There are ten preset color combinations available.
Light and visibility
Activating multi-color animation
# Select Multi-colorAnim..
# Activate O or deactivate ª the function. The chosen color combination changes at predefined intervals.
Activating dependency on air conditioning settings
# Select Climate.
# Activate O or deactivate ª the function. If changes are made to the temperature setting in the vehicle, the color of the ambient lighting changes briefly.
Activating welcome lighting
# Select Welcome.
# Activate O or deactivate ª the function. When the vehicle is unlocked, a special interior lighting sequence runs.

Sorry bro! That doesn’t work for 2017 models. They started that in the 2018 and 2019. I have a 2017 model and hate I can’t do that either.

Hmmm, what's this about a welcome sequence...?

I'll be checking this out tonight!!!!

:ditto: The 2019 is the ultimate for ambient lighting in that it adds the lighting to the air vents as well....looks like after boosters on a rocket. The color changing ambient lighting is the bomb!

Not in the sedan, sadly. We don't get rocket booster air vents. The rest, we do get.

According to the DOG guide for the 2019 E450 coupe: Enhanced Ambient lighting (64 colors) with illuminated air vents

We have the enhanced lighting system in our 19 CLS 450 and it is truly an awesome lighting display. MB deserves kudos on this standard equipment. It is like kid in a candy store. :zoom:

The sedan (at least my 2018) is also missing a strip of ambient lighting ontop of the command screen, which looks great on the coupe (and the S class). That being said, the ambient lighting is a great feature IMHO.

That would indicate to me your 2018 does not have the digital instrument cluster, right? If the car has the analog cluster, you don't get Ambient lighting over or under the Comand screen. If you have the all digital instrument cluster, you get Ambient lighting on top and underneath.

Hi, guys.

I purchased a 2018 GLE 350 and sadly do not have the ambient lighting option. Can this be added?

Search I the W205 forum. benzdude might have posted something on this for the W205. The dealers may have something for your GLE...
