S212 vs S213, is the 15K USD difference worth it?
I'm currently driving an A4 Avant and I'm looking for something slightly larger. The E-class Wagon appears as the best (and perhaps only) choice from what is available in the US.
I'm looking at 2016 E350 Wagons and 2017 E400 Wagons. At similar mileage and options, the former advertise for 40-45K USD while the latter go fro 55-60K USD. Is the 15K worth it? I would love to drive these back to back but these used wagons are scarce so it's easier said than done. How do you think the ride and handling of the S212 and S213 compare? Thank you! |
not S212 & S213
but W212 & W213 |

I had the same dilemma in January 2017 as my my 2014 S212 lease was ending, and the choice was between the just beginning to arrive in the US 2017 E400 S213s and one of the remaining 2016 E350 S212s. Although the difference in MSRP between the two was minor I was able to negotiate a substantial discount on a leftover 2016 so that the monthly lease was about $300 less than a comparably equipped 2017.
Now 2 years into driving the 2016 I am completely satisfied with the decision - while every new model brings improvements, I find the 2016 wagon with sport styling/suspension, is a very competent and satisfying ride and given the price differential, would make the same decision again. Good luck. |
212s are nice I had one.

S213 is the code for Esate (Wagon). W213 is for saloon (sedan). OP is correct
