plastic vents in front of sunroof

Hi there. I am wondering if the sunroof is designed to channel rain somewhere if the sunroof is cracked open and it rains.
Here in FL it would be great to have the hot air get out of the car through the vents but it also can downpour here pretty quickly.
Thanks.

Sorry, but if you leave your sunroof cracked open, you'll get water inside the car.

I didn't know the roof will auto close when the car is off and parked if it rains? Have you tried this? I imagine I can seek the answer in the Owners Manual, but if you've done this it would great to know.

the real question is will it close when parked and when the car is off though? which i wouldn't think it would - but if so, would be quite fantastic!

Thanks, but it doesn't say it closes if the car is sitting outside and turned off if it starts raining, which was the question. I doubt that it does.

211 with rain sensor activated (MBUSA via STAR if need be) if the ignition key has been removed and the vehicle is locked, the sliding/tilting sunroof closes automatically if it starts to rain I don’t see why it would be any different for 213. You can test it by spraying water on the windshield rain sensor (located @ rear view mirror) with roof open or raised.

It's funny to see this post because last night it rained on me while I was driving with the sunroof open, however, the automatic feature didn't work for me to close it. Hmmm...

i tried it on my MY 2019. The guide says if there is rain on the front windscreen sensor then it will close sunroof and windows when stationary. It will auto close in any event after 30 mins of parking. Works as described.

I think that's what he said, Ron.
Works as described.
Then again....

If you get the time Ron, why not try it with your car by sprinkling the windshield rain sensor with the sunroof open. Really curious now to see if it works.....too bad they don't have a system to automatically close a convertible top

Only MBs - the best or nothing
Just tried it with vehicle off and locked. Pano roof open and then Pano roof tilted up. Pored water on the windshield - nothing happened. Incidentally I was driving yesterday with roof raised in vent position, once it started misting, roof did close because I heard noise and had to manually put it back to vent position.

I can say it didn't work on my car. We went to the grocery store. I saw on the radar before we left that we might have a shower (not heavy and tbt, I wanted my car to get wet enough to wipe the pollen off), so when we got to the grocery store, I opened the sunroof about a couple inches, with vent up, locked the car and went shopping. When I came out it was raining enough for the car to be wet and the wipers to have come in contact with water and the sunroof was still exactly as I left it.

Today I washed my car. Tilted the sunroof up and sprayed water on the windshield. Nothing happened. Then I tried turning the wipers to auto and again nothing happened. It seems like unless the engine is running or accessories are on, the wipers and sunroof will do nothing.

Yep, that appears to be the case. The moral of the story is don't leave your sunroof open if it might rain outside, within 30 minutes of getting out of your car.

Not available in US to my knowledge just as remote parking via cell not available as well.

Welp, I guess we can safely say that at least in the US, it’s nothing more than an urban legend.

I kind of thought you’d see advertising as such or promotion as a feature from MB if this was true.

It does work, but only if sunroof is fully opened not tilted. And when rain sensor is activated it will move sunroof to tilted position in case of rain or “30 min off scenario”.

Gentle folk, as this is the age of the YouTuber I say everyone should post a video of this in motion or non-motion.
Europeans and North Americans, it could be the .Canadians have this feature...

Ta!
