Device Not Supported Message

After I canceled my SiriusXM subscription I tried to use an 32 GB SDHC card to play music. I get a "device not supported" message. I can't find any detail documentation about that error. If I switch to a 64 GB SDXC card it is accepted. The manual says that SDHC is valid. The card is formatted as exFat. There are no errors and it works in my Windows 10 computer. Virtually all of my music is on 32 GB SDHC media. It would be a major task to move it.

Thanks, I'll give it a try in the morning and post back with the results.

also make sure the contacts on the card are well cleaned.
this is not a mini card right? (cos in such case sometimes the adaptor can cause problems)

Best thing to clean contacts with is a pink pencil eraser. Works well on all sorts of electronic contacts such as cameras & lenses.

The reset did not work. The card works in all of my other devices. I think that COMAND has issues with 32 GB cards because none of my other 32 GB cards work in the car either.
I'm using a 64 GB memory card that works fine. BTW they are all San Disk cards.

Strange... Have you tried NTFS format maybe to see if that works?

The card was originally NTFS. It didn't work so I converted it to FAT32. It still doesn't work.
Has anyone else been able to play a 32 GB microSDHC? (I tried several adapters.)

I thought you said earlier it was formatted as ExFat not FAT32. My card only works when formatted as ExFat.

I've tried every file system format.

i have to see if i have a 32gb laying around & will test

rustybear3 03-20-2019 08:44 AM

ExFat is the only system that will work for me.

Question: If one resets the system, I know you have to re-pair blue tooth phones again. Would you have to re-establish the ME Connect all over again as well since it erases previous data?

Export your profile, reset system then import your profile. Pairing, setting favorites, etc. does not have to be done again.

Where do you export and import your profile?

System, System Backup - select either import or export.
Instructions are in the user guide under "Data Import and Export" starting on page 243.

I have had a problem with my comand system not playing all the songs in an album and/or playlist(s). Sometimes it plays a song with the correct title but wrong artist or album. I will try resetting the flash drive and system.

Egonvdv 03-21-2019 04:18 AM

sorry, seems i have a million cards, but non are 32gb...

Luster 03-21-2019 04:46 PM

I also have problem with Audio 20 with Media Display. Sometimes it says USB device not supported. Simple unplug&plug USB works every time.

Do I need make update of the car to fix this or also this System Reset ?

Note the original problem post is using a HC type of card:

I was actually looking at using a SD card in my 2010 E350 A207....
Just had a few quick questions please in regards to what are the limitation of the info system in my model?

Ive got a spare San Disk Extreme SDXC 128gb card...would that work?
Do all songs need to be in mp3 format only?
My COMMAND system has the PCmcia slot that then offers the SD card slot through it.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not aware of a pcmcia slot in the E class. There is an SD slot in the console. One can use an adapter that allows a microSD card to be used.
A 128 GB card will work.
My music is in flac format.
My video is in mp4 format.

I, too, am using an SDHC in the center console slot. I have hundreds of AAC and a few MP3 (didn't see the benefit of converting MP3 to AAC) audio files on it. Works perfectly. I have not tried FLAC format.

The disc is a SanDisk Extreme Pro 32 GB.

The previous gen series 1 E Class had the PCMCIA adaptor slot to SD card.
Ive been trying to find info on the older command system limitations with SD card music but have not had much luck hence why when i found this thread ( even though its the current gen E Class) id thought id ask incase anyone knew about the older system.

Some people i have asked said it only will work with up to 32GB file size card while others say 64GB is fine. Some say all songs have to be .mp3 while others say any format is fine :/

Just FYI, I recently downloaded all of my music to an SD card (Sandisk Extreme Pro 32 GB) as ALAC files (Apples' version of FLAC). Just tested it out and it played perfectly. Probably doesn't help any, but not sure why you would get that message for your 32GB card.
