70mph chassis vibration.
I have a slight vibration through the car, rather faint, but now I feel it, its hard to ignore! It starts around 70mph, and seems to stop around 73-74mph
The car is a W213 E Class, on 20" OEM wheels on RFT.
Had all the wheels rebalanced, the front drivers side turned out to have a very slight flat spot in, and a poorly worn tyre, the inner most edge has worn a groove in the thread.
They rebalanced the wheel, 105g of weight added.
The vibration is not really felt, and road surface dependent now, but would a front wheel that's not perfect transmit a vibration through the floor/seat of the car?

Yes you would feel vibration in seat balancing is always the first step, did they “road force” balance.

I am pushing the dealer to change the alloy wheel, as they had that one refurbished, and the other wheels was new.
Thanks

I had a flat spot "shimy" on my 911 and it became noticeable between 70mph and 75mph only, I could feel it in the steering wheel, chassis, and seat.
I had it balanced by a couple of outfits and it still showed up at the same speed. The wheel had a buckle.
Eventually, after a few months, the side rim of the wheel suffered a catastrophic crack, and end result was a rapid deflation of the tyre, fortunately it happened immediately after going over a sharp speed ramp in a carpark (this probably contributed to the crack) but the wheel was spinning for months with a flat spot, and so I consider myself very lucky.
My advice would be to replace the wheel.
Hair line crack!

Its on the 20” AMG wheels, with Goodyear RFT, it’s only that tyre that’s wearing like that. The garage I use for alignment said the camber on the W213 can’t be changed, unless you buy new camber bolts, I guess TOE can also wear inner or outside of the tyre?
Thanks

They car was bought from Mercedes as an Approved Used car.
The garage out 3 new wheels on, and refurbished the 4th, which, oddly has a slight, very slight buckle. I am pushing the garage to change this wheel for a new one, as why refurbish an out of round wheel?
Thanks
Luke

I think your goodyear run flats have a lot to do with your vibration also. I'm replacing mine next week with Michelin Primacy 3 run flat touring tires. My Goodyears cause some vibrations on the highway and ride horrible over bumps, you can feel everything on the road. The Michelins should correct that. Get the alignment done, when you have the tires off to change them out check the rims for bends, put on the michelins and road force balance them and your ride should be smooth as silk.

I shall buy a new tyre first, and see how that feels, and in the mean time, push the garage for a new replacement wheel.
I guess with 20” wheels, on low profile RFT tyres, there going to transfer vibrations through the car.
Thanks
Luke
