Do Wagons, Coupes, Convertibles Get Built Alongside Sedans?
Dumb question for the experts here (or anybody who has visited the W123 factory): Does Mercedes stagger their production and only build the other bodystyle variants (wagons, coupes/convertibles, etc.) at certain times of the year, in between production runs of only sedan models ? Or does the assembly line constantly have a fluid mix of products (sedans and wagons mixed together), simply based on demand and orders being filled? Or are the wagons built on their own separate production line?
I'm curious because I (anecdotally) seem to notice "waves" of product availability (which could simply be explained by cargo shipments), and I'm wondering if a buyer looking for a particular variant (wagon, for example) would have to wait 3 months for the next production window if all of the current production batch is already spoken for. Thanks in advance!

The coupe and cab are assembled in Bremen. Sedan and Wagon in Sindelfingen. Not that this fully answers your question ...

The sedans and wagons get built on the same line at the same time, I have watched a number of production line videos and you can see them one behind the other. Convertibles and coupes, I can't comment on.

MBWorld Fanatic!
IMO it depends on where one is located - North America, China, Europe, etc.
