Boat help

Well supposedly my car got loaded onto the boat on Saturday, 4/27/19, to make the journey across the pond, but my SA says there is not a boat name listed yet (I have a VIN). Does anyone know what ships where at the port this weekend to pick up cars? Specifically Saturday?
Thanks

Mine was halfway across the Atlantic before I could find any tracking on the ship. It docked first at Baltimore before heading on down to Brunswick, GA.

BACnMercedes 04-30-2019 12:52 PM

In the past I have been able to look my ship up by the VIN but now the shippers have taken that option away. Once I got the ships name I was able to track it to a few different ports in Europe and other places but as soon as it got pretty far out into the ocean I lost track of it. I would then just have to keep checking back every so often and soon I would find it on the eastern US shoreline somewhere. It just seems that these shipping companies don't like to give out to much information anymore.
I'm also concerned a little because the car has seemed to sit at the departure port for a lot longer than any other car I got. Plus I'm a little anxious because I've been waiting on this car since early Jan. and was told by many when I was pricing around to order it that I would have it by now.

You can use vesselfinder.com to see what ships were leaving Rotterdam for a given time frame. The ship type is a RoRo Cargo Ship. If you can narrow down the shipping line you can get ship schedules/ports of call from their websites. It is a tedious process without a ship's name, but doable.

Check marine traffic .com and look for some big roros.

Your dealer or mbusa in GA should help with this process.

Now I’m getting worried. The car is still not showing up on any boat nor is it supposedly assigned to a boat. Do they normally sit that long at the out going port? I’ve never seen this. The cars usually sit outside the arriving port on the boat or at the port itself. I hope it’s just on the water on the boat and it just hasn’t updated yet. Too much longer I think I might cancel and wait on the 2020. This process has been going since late December and I’m getting impatient.

It can take a week or more to get on a boat. Put some pressure on your SA to get an up-to-date status report. They can do it, but do not like to do it.

madtrader 05-06-2019 12:29 AM

My SA was getting weird info for mine in March. I was told my car was on a boat and then about a week later that it was on the dock waiting to be assigned a boat. My SA said they had a few orders having similar status issues.

CaptainE 05-06-2019 12:41 AM

I had the same issues in December. It was on the fourth ship , 2 months after I’d dropped it off in Frankfurt.

I'm in the same boat no pun intended except that my order was placed in October and the ETA was March 4...This past Friday i finally did get a verbal confirmation that my new wagon was to leave Germany { Bremerhaven} today on the Morning Celine vessel with an ETA in Halifax by May 15...we will see

What, and go through the "wait" period all over again? Three months is about average for these cars to be ordered, built and shipped. Should have gotten you car in April, so if you get it here in May, that's not too bad. I know in my case, a member gave me all the ship information I needed by just giving him my VIN number. His name on the forum is: susman@eurogermantown.com. He is a forum sponsor and very helpful if you contact him.

Well I got a boat name finally but apparently now it is cruising across the Atlantic and I cannot see it unless I pay for tracking (anyone have tracking?). It has a projected path and is supposedly headed to NY. After that who knows since it needs to probably get to Brunswick to help me out. But I have noticed that the day it is "projected" to be in NY keeps changing drastically. Sometimes it changes a couple of hours, other times it changes days. It keeps going up and down in time and back and forth in days.
Since I missed my wife's birthday for it, our 15 year anniversary for it, maybe it well make my birthday. My wife doesn't think that is funny since this is going to be her DD.

What is the ship's name?

GLOVIS CARAVEL

ua549 05-11-2019 10:35 AM

The Glovis Caravel is currently near 37° lat and -29° lon. Its next POC is NYC @ 6am on 16 May. It is scheduled to arrive at Colonel's Island Terminal, Brunswick, GA on 20 May.

BACnMercedes 05-11-2019 11:23 AM

Great. Just before the end of the month I hope! Thanks!

BACnMercedes 05-16-2019 05:23 PM

I think my ship might be dragging its anchor. It’s gone up in days again! This wait is going to kill me.

martinlarose 05-17-2019 04:58 AM

i feel your pain...The boat mine is on is scheduled to dock in Halifax very early tomorrow....My dealer is also in Halifax so not sure when it will get the car but hopefully this coming week and then it is to be ceramic coated before I take delivery...with a little luck I should have it before the end of the month nearly 3 months over due...

BACnMercedes 05-17-2019 06:31 AM

Well apparently over night it pulled up anchor, hit the turbos, or the captain woke up and started cruising, because it has now moved up 12 hours in time (that’s a first) and is set to be at the first port at 0900 today. Now if I can just get it down to Brunswick!
What ship are you waiting on Martin?

Argelius 05-17-2019 10:15 AM

What’s with these dealers/SA that are so reluctant to give tracking info on a $70,000 purchase? Admittedly, it’s just a curiosity and a way to help stave off anxiety about delayed gratification...but my guy sure isn’t forthcoming. I’m not particularly interested in making a stink about this (would rather use my “clout” for more important problems down the line).

Exactly! That's why I don't ask them for much right now and its fun to just watch for now.

Now the ship is heading to Baltimore. Hopefully Brunswick is next.

BACnMercedes 05-21-2019 04:03 PM

Dangit! Now the boat is just parked outside Charleston! :wall: Sorry, just venting as the wait continues and my wife says she is done at the end of the month.

CaptainE 05-21-2019 06:56 PM

She is done? You’ll be free?

You said it’s fun waiting? I used my ‘clout’ during my delays and now have 4 years of service covered.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don’t be a milquetoast.

I’d say all will be forgotten once the keys are in hand, but I know better. Wives never forget. Might as well get it written in vinyl lettering somewhere on the car.

hi BAC mine was on the Morning Celine and the boat docked at the Halifax Autoport this past weekend and my car is now at the dealership. in Halifax . The dealer will get it ready today and then it is going to my detailer to be ceramic coated etc...I am 200 miles away from my dealer so now will not be able to get to Halifax to pick it up until May 30 or 31 depending on my schedule but at least it is now here in Nova Scotia. As i have stated in another post the dealer has given me a 2019 e 450 sedan as a loaner until I can pick up my new one as the car was supposed to be here around March 4...Good luck with your and hopefully you will have it shortly. I will post some pics of mine when I finally take delivery...
