Driver's side window won't stay closed (keeps coming back down)

Over the last 2 days, my driver's side window will no longer stay up/closed. Every time I go to the top, it thinks something is blocking it and comes back down about 5 inches. I therefore have to close it 1/4 inch at time hoping I don't go too far and have it drop 5 inches again and try again.

Is this common? There's no obvious blockage in the window frame that the window slides into. It appears to slide properly into its frame but then decides "nope, I'm not happy, I'm backing out".

Any thoughts on how to address this?

Try resetting it.
All doors closed, key in #1 or #2.
Pull up window switch (only first position, not auto up).
When window reaches top continue to hold switch for 10 seconds.
If it drops when you let go, immediately repeat and hold 10 seconds.
Try a few times.

The window drops back down the second it reaches the top, even when I hold the window switch in the manual up position. So this won't work. Know what I mean?

Try resetting lower position first. Same procedure. Hold for 10 seconds after you lower from the high-as-it-will-stay position. Then reset top. If it still fails, something is not working right,

Unfortinately, that didn't work either. Same problem. Any thoughts on what could cause the window to think it's encountering a blockage?

Have someone check do quick test using Xentry (MB diagnostics) ultimately may be as simple as re-normalizing power window system, or door control unit(s) need software update.

I tried everything to reset it and nothing worked.
The only solution that actually fixed my problem is explained here

Brilliant, as i recently had a new battery put in (having been galavanting in the Philippines for 6 months), and after numerous attempts to get the drivers back passenger window to fully close, when locking the doors, this worked!! I kept pulling up the switch to its second position and not the FIRST position :hammer:. But thank you for this fix, really appreciated.
